A/N: Whenever this symbol "-" is spaced apart from the title, it means there is angst in the chapter. I'll put whether there is major angst or minor angst. This one had major angst.

"Lance McClain!" Maria shouted, excited for her brother.

"What do you want, Maria?" Lance said, clearly uninterested.

"You mean to tell me you have a boyfriend, and I'm not the first to know?"

"Maria. We've been over this. There were people there when I hugged him during lunch."

"Lance! That could easily be mistaken for a friendly hug!" Maria shouted, angrily.

"Keith had friends that helped him answer me, Maria."

"Oh. So it was Keith, huh?"

Lance paused. He suddenly realized he hadn't told Maria who his boyfriend was. Lance slowly looked up from his book.

"You didn't see him through the window?" Lance asked, trying to confirm his little realization.

"No, Lance. Your big ass head was in the way. He then put on his helmet. You've also never come home through motorcycle."

"Oh. Wait. You stalker! How do you know that?!" Lance said, accusingly.

"Lance. I used to bring you to school. Then you started to go to school with Hunk. He also brought you home dude."

"Oh," Lance said, feeling like an absolute idiot. He usually was.

--------A Few Days Later--------

Lance was lucky he came into school with coffee today.

"Lance! Can you get me a paper too?" Keith said, being lazy today.

"What? No." Lance answered. "I'm not your personal butler."

"Okay fine." Keith huffed, getting up from his seat. People were starting to join clubs, and Keith wanted to see the club list. He was just too lazy to get up from his seat. Keith shuffled, back slouched, over to the front of the class to get a paper. He then shuffled back, yawning as he sat down. Lance seemed to notice that he was a bit off.

"You okay, babe?" Lance tried, knowing that Keith would correct him if he was still Keith.

"Meh. I'm visibly tired, Lance. I thought it was obvious." Keith said, not even bothering to correct Lance. He did, however, had enough energy in him to glare weakly at Lance.

Lance sensed that Keith was way TOO tired. He knew Keith was working on his art assignments. He just didn't know it kept him from sleeping. Lance gave Keith his coffee.

"Thanks, babe," Keith said, not noticing he actually said it.

"AWWWWW KEEEEFFFF!" Lance said, playfully hitting Keith and laughing.

-

At this point, Keith hadn't slept well for 5 days.

He didn't want Lance to worry, but he couldn't just find the vigor in himself to do something about his appearance.

He looked like shit, and he knew.

Keith just had... nightmares, to put it simply. Nightmares of going into space, getting kidnapped by aliens, then dying. Lance was with him in all of his dreams. And he died every single time.

Keith couldn't do anything about it.

Tonight, however, fate had a different nightmare for him.

The room was dark, except for one light in the corner. Lance was sitting in a chair, and Keith was sitting in another. They were talking to each other.

"We should break up, Keith. I'm sorry. I just don't think I can deal with your problematic shit anymore. It's starting to affect me too. And it's not good. So, goodbye."

Keith's eyes widened, but he kept his gaze on the ground. "Go fuck yourself." He couldn't control the words coming out of his mouth. He started crying.

Lance suddenly faded away, and the setting suddenly changed.

This time, it was one of his childhood houses. From when he was still in foster care and Shiro didn't take him in yet.

It was one of his favorite parents. He eventually got taken away from them because the foster system apparently didn't give a fuck about him, but he knew his parents didn't want him anymore.

He went inside the house and saw his former parents sitting by the counter. They glared at him.

"You're gay? How disgraceful." His former father said.

"Keith, you don't belong here anymore. We're giving you back to foster care. Let's go."

Keith screamed. They were dragging him out by his own will, and they didn't care.

Keith woke with a start, his voice feeling hoarse. He had never screamed in a dream before.

-

Lance heard him scream. And he was so sure it was Keith.

At this point, Lance knew the code to Keith's house. Keith didn't like keys and preferred to punch in a code into a digital lock.

The door opened and Lance quickly shut it. He dashed upstairs to Keith's room and opened his door. His eyes widened at the sight he saw.

Keith was sitting up on his bed, hugging his knees. He was rocking back and forth, crying. His choked sobs were hurting Lance's heart. Lance immediately rushed to his side, pulling him into a hug. Keith was still hugging his knees when Lance transferred him into his lap.

"Keith, baby, what's wrong?" Lance's voice filled with concern, but still soft. Keith opened up slowly and started mumbling/crying into Lance's chest.

"You left me. My parents left me. All of you left me." Keith's voice was weak and scared.

"Shhhhhh. I didn't leave you. I will never leave you, okay?" Lance said, and Keith started to cry again. Lance started rubbing circles into Keith's back.

"What happened in your nightmare?" Lance kissed his forehead and continued to comfort the hurt boy. Keith had stopped crying at this point, and he was just hugging Lance.

"You told me you wanted to break up with me. You told me I was too problematic and that you couldn't take it anymore."

"I would never do that, okay? You've gotta tell me your problems now, okay? We're gonna work through them together. That's why I'm here right now."

"Okay." Keith's voice was still quiet.

"Do you want to tell me the rest of your nightmares? I'm assuming that's why you have been tired for the last few days?"

Keith nodded and started to tell Lance about his previous nightmares. Lance listened to him all the way through, occasionally kissing his forehead or play with Keith's hair.

"I'm sleepy Lance," Keith said, yawning.

"Okay, I'll go back to my house now." Lance started standing up.

"w-wait. stay." Lance looked back at Keith, who had a desperate look on his face.

"Okay mullet, I'll stay."

Lance got into Keith's bed, laying on his back. Keith snuggled up to him, hugging his side. He tangled their legs together and fell asleep a bit later.

It was the best sleep Keith had in a long, long time.
