Slivko:
--------------------"Where are James and Ricky?" Weaver asks, looking around.
They're nowhere to be seen.
"James! Ricky!" I shout, looking around.
"Slivko?! Weaver?! Over here!" Ricky responds, appearing from behind a tree.
I smile, relieved that they're alright. We all rush over and regroup.
"Who's that?" Weaver asks, nodding towards a strange woman covered in dust.
"I'm professor Amelia Brooks." The woman answers, shocking all of us.
"Brooks?" I ask, thinking of our Brooks.
--------------------
Conrad:
--------------------"We need to get back to my base... you all just encountered one of my subjects." Professor Brooks says.
"One of?!" Slivko exclaims, not hiding his fear.
"Move now, talk later." Professor Brooks snaps, running off.
"So I guess there was someone we needed to rescue on this island." I snap at Walker.
He sends me a fake smile, and then roles his eyes. We all follow professor Brooks back to her "camp". She continues on about her studies here on the island. I payed her no attention until she said something that peeked my interest.
"-yes, well... my son and I didn't part on the best of terms. Besides he was more focused on what was under the surface... however the creatures on this island didn't come from fishers and 'mergance points', as my son likes to call them." She rambles.
"Excuse me, but where did these creatures come from, if not from the ground?" Ricky pipes up.
All of this must be strange the way she sees it. Hell, it's strange for me.
"Its from nuclear testing and that hushed up nuclear power plant that was compromised a while back. All of that radiation effected the wildlife already here, causing major mutations... watch it there." Brooks replies, directing Ricky away from a vibrantly colored plant.
Ricky stepped away just as dart-like objects flew from the creature. I ran to block Ricky, but Colonel Walker was there first along with two of his men. One of his men was unfortunate enough to get stuck with all the pricklies. His skin flushed a sickly shade of green and his skin pulled tight over his bone structure as it seemed all the liquids in his body were dried up. Ricky became a sick green color to. Was it probably due to the rapid decline of the soldier? I rushed to her side to examine her, Walker already there. That's when Ricky threw up on the Colonel.
--------------------
Ricky:
--------------------I couldn't help it. My throat burned as I lost my previous meal all over Walker. He just patted me on the back and told me not to look. I didn't. I found peace in his ever changing eyes.
"You have pretty eyes." I accidentally mutter.
He chuckles at my foggy behavior.
"Thanks. They're my mother's. " He sighs jokingly, looking away from my dead stare.
"Ricky, are you alright?" Conrad asks, pulling me close to his chest.
"Yeah, just light headed now." I whisper, hugging him back.
"She's going to pass out in three... two... one..." Professor Brooks counted off, and my eyes shut as I went limp against Conrad.
--------------------
Conrad:
--------------------Brooks came over and pulled a dart out of her thigh. Fear poured into my veins. I looked at Ricky, whose skin had a greenish tint. It isn't as dark as the soldier, but it was still their.
"Is she going to die?" I question, my voice cracking at the thought.
"No, she's just unconscious. It was just one dart, so she'll be awake in a few hours." Professor Brooks replies.
"Hours? We can't wait out here for hours." Walker stated.
"I'm sure Conrad will carry her and we can get to this... what is it? Safe house?" Nina says, speaking after becoming deathly silent.
"Yes. We need to keep moving." Professor Brooks says, as I lift Ricky.
I looked down at her. Although I had been given the promise that she'd be alright, I was still worried to the point of exhaustion.
"You'll be fine." I whisper, more to comfort myself than anyone else.
