It all happened in a split second... Izzy saw a blast heading right towards him, leaving him with no time to think or act. He closed his eyes and covered his face from the impending blast when he heard Mikotomon cry out, "Rita!" Izzy opened his eyes once more to find himself flying back to the ground from the impact of Rita's body being thrown into him. His arms wrapped around her as he attempted to shield her from the fall. "R-Rita!?" Izzy cried out, instantly realizing what had happened. Sitting up, Izzy gently lifted Rita off of him. "Say something!" He pleaded, his fear only increased when he looked at his hand to see it covered in Rita's blood. "R-Rita..." Mikotomon cried, trying to move her own wounded body. "R-Rita... p-please..." Izzy felt tears form in his eyes, gripping Rita's shoulders he looked to her back to see her shirt burned away and covered in blood. His hands started to shake, tears now fell from his eyes. "Izzy..." Rita's hushed voice spoke. "Rita!" Izzy called out, relived to see she was alive. "A-are you okay?" She asked, her breathing heavy. Izzy's grip on Rita tightened, "I'm fine... but you..." Rita just smiled as she lifted her head to face Izzy, seeing the broken and scared look he wore. "I'm so glad..." she spoke, her eyes closing again. "Rita! Stay with me!" Izzy cried out. "How touching, that girl must really value your life if she would sacrifice her own for you." Evil Gennai chuckled. Izzy held Rita closer to him as his angered eyes met with the evil Gennai's. "Still, it was a wasted effort since I need to destroy you as well." Those words stuck Rita harder than the blast had, she had to protect Izzy, the whole world was counting on him. "Mikotomon... please protect Izzy... keep him safe..." Rita spoke as she felt her consciousness start to fade.
"Rita..." Izzy spoke. "I hear you Rita..." Mikotomon then closed her eyes as she got to her feet. Izzy's eyes widened as he saw Mikotomon light up before digivolving into her Mega form. A large white feathered dragon now stood between him and Alphamon. "Oh, so you managed to digivolve to Mega did you? No worries, you still won't be able to take on Alphamon." Evil Gennai grinned. "I am Glaciermon, Rita's partner! I won't let you have your way! I will protect her and those most important to her, I swear I will defeat you!" Glaciermon growled. A strong blizzard filled the air as Izzy covered Rita's body with his own. The blast that Alphamon then fired was frozen solid by the ice cold wind which Glaciermon's wings formed. An overwhelming frozen blast from Glaciermon struck Alphamon, freezing him solid. "Well well, impressive." Evil Gennai spoke, his interest peaked. "I'm not done yet!" Glaciermon announced, the red gem on her forehead then started to glow. A strong, hot beam of light fired its way to Alphamon's frozen body, an explosion sent shards of ice flying in every direction and when Izzy looked once the smoke had cleared, Alphamon was no more. "It seems I underestimated you... nonetheless, I believe I've done what I came for." And with that the evil Gennai had vanished. "Rita!" Habumon cried out as she hopped over towards Izzy and her partner. "I-is she okay?" Habumon asked as she looked up at Izzy. He didn't know what to say, Rita needed to get to a hospital right away. "H-Habumon..." Rita spoke weakly. "Rita!" Habumon cried out with relief. "You were wonderful... I'm so proud of you..." Rita again spoke. "Rita try not to speak! We need to get you to the hospital right away! You've lost a lot of blood!" Izzy insisted. "Rita... I'm sorry... I failed to protect you..." Habumon then started to cry. Rita slowly shook her head. "You defeated Alphamon and protected Izzy, thank you..." Rita just smiled. Izzy called up his phone only to see that there was no service. "Damn it!" He cried out. "Izzy..." Rita then said as she got to her knees. "Wait, Rita don't move yet!" Izzy ordered. "Get back to your office... you still have work to do, right?" Rita gave Izzy a serious look. "I'm not leaving you like this! Are you insane?" Izzy bellowed. "Habumon... can you digivolve back to Tsukimon?" Rita questioned. "I will do my best!" Habumon spoke before digivolving back into her Champion form. "W-what are you going to do?" Izzy asked. "Tsukimon can fly me to the hospital, you need to go save the world." Rita smiled. "I... can't... I can't just leave you like this!" Izzy felt tears form in his eyes once more. "It will be okay... I believe in you, so believe in me too... you're my hero Izzy." Rita gave Izzy a loving look. Izzy's heart started to race even faster, even though his adrenalin was already in overdrive. "Rita..." Hearing her own name over and over was one thing keeping Rita conscious, other than sheer willpower. "You can do it," Rita again smiled as she took Izzy's hand with her own. "I will! Tsukimon, I'm counting on you... take care of her!" Izzy responded as he got to his feet. "Leave Rita to me!" Tsukimon insisted as she gently lifted Rita into the air. "I'll come back for you once it's over, I promise!" Izzy called out as Tsukimon ascended into the sky. He could only watch as the two flew away, shaking off his fears and worries, he had to focus, he had to keep his promise to Rita.
