In the next few days Rita had gotten a ton of visitors, so much so that the doctors were concerned that she wasn't going to get enough rest. Izzy had come by every day and Rita's father seemed to take quite an interest in him. When Rita was alone with her father he had inquired whether or not Rita and Izzy were dating. She had a hard time explaining their situation but did get around to telling him they weren't. He figured out in an instant that Rita was head over heels for the boy, but for some reason she was hesitant, even though he could tell that the same went for Izzy. Davis and the others had awoken and the hospital seemed to be full of DigiDestined and Digimon. Those few days went by fast and soon it was the morning when Rita was to be discharged. Rita's father had plans golfing that day, so Izzy and Mimi decided to celebrate her release by going out and enjoying the day. Rita felt refreshed when she stepped outside, and when going back to Izzy's office to drop the Digimon off, she was filled with nostalgia over all that had happened in the last while. She was so grateful to Izzy, for everything he had done for her and more. Because of him, Mikumon and all of the Digimon had their memories back and the time when Rita felt broken and alone was almost like a bad dream. Even if she had protected Izzy, to her she still felt like she owed him. As they walked around Odaiba, Rita's eyes fell on Mimi and Izzy as they conversed. She watched as Mimi teased him and Izzy reacted like the embarrassed mess he was. They looked happy... and she knew then just how she could pay Izzy back for everything.
"I'm getting a phone call, I'll just be over there, it won't take long." Rita gestured as she waved before walking off. "I wonder who is calling her?" Izzy pondered, looking to Mimi. She looked a little down as she watched Rita walk off. Somehow what Rita said, the way she said it... it wasn't normal. "Mimi?" Izzy questioned, returning Mimi back to reality. "Oh sorry, I'm not sure. What do you think we should do next? I mean I don't want Rita walking around too much... maybe karaoke?" Mimi proposed. "Sounds good, Rita does love to sing and it has been a while since I have heard her." Izzy responded with a smile. Mimi found herself smiling back, Rita had to be blind not to see the infatuation on Izzy face when he spoke of her. Izzy felt his phone beep and pulled it out to check what the message was. Mimi watched Izzy's expression take a 180, a stunned look covered his face. Izzy looked at the message from Rita, the words typed made his heart shatter.
Izzy,
You may feel guilty over everything that happened, but I'm still in your debt, well at least I think so! So take this chance to spend some time with Mimi, just tell her I took a cab home to rest. Also, have more confidence in yourself! You will do just fine =)
"Izzy, what is it?" Mimi questioned with concern. Izzy didn't know what to say... should he tell her the truth or go along with Rita's lie? Before Izzy had a chance to say anything Mimi grabbed Izzy's phone and scanned over the message. "W-wait!" Izzy called out, but Mimi held her arm out to keep him at a distance as she finished reading. Izzy froze, waiting for Mimi to say something. She just sighed heavily and groaned. "Rita you idiot..." Mimi spoke as she shoved Izzy's phone back at him. "Izzy..." She then faced him with a serious look. "Y-yes?" Izzy stuttered, wondering what she was going to say next. "I promised Rita I would stay out of it but I've had it!" Mimi was clearly frustrated. Izzy gripped his phone as he gave her a subtle nod indicating he was listening. "Listen carefully to me, Rita is in love with you!" She confessed, Izzy felt his heart skip a beat as his stomach fluttered immensely. "I know you had a crush on me and Rita was helping with that, the two of you are so obvious but so dense. I know that you have fallen in love with Rita but she hasn't picked up on that, of course... she is prepared to hide how she feels forever so long as you are happy, so what are you going to do then?" Mimi inquired. Izzy thought of Rita, how clueless he and her both were. "I'm going after her!" Izzy stated with a serious expression, turning Mimi's frustrated look into a gentle smile. "She wouldn't have gone home, but I have no worries that you will find her." Mimi informed as Izzy turned to run off. He then stopped and looked back once more. "Mimi!... Thank you!" Mimi watched as Izzy ran off once more. She sighed in relief as a warmth enveloped her. "No Izzy... thank you..."
