Marlen ended up coming to the house. I haven't said a word to him because Denve been talking to him.
Right now he is reading her a book so she can call it a night
I leave the kitchen and takes my snacks into the living room. I set up everything so that I can watch my show.
As soon as Love Is starts Marlen comes in the living room and sits on the other couch. Since I haven't watched the first episode this was what I was doing. He kept quiet cause he could tell that I was into it. I knew he was going to wait for the commercial break to talk to me but I had something else in store. I skipped the commercials
After the first three commercial breaks he stopped trying to talk to me and really was watching the show. He moved over some but we still had our distance. After the end of the 4th episode I got up because that was the last one. I walked to the door and opened the door for him.
He finally got the hint and grabbed his things to leave. He walked by me and looked at me. As soon as he walked out the door I closed and locked it and went to bed.
When I returned to work I realized that I had flowers on my desk and a card. I picked up the card and saw that it was from Marlen . I didn't read it and I grabbed the flowers and threw them in the garbage.
"Umm who brought you flowers and they don't belong in the trash" my coworker said as she picked up the flowers from the trash.
I took them from her and threw them away again.
"It's trash and let it be" I said that just as Marlen was walking by.
She just looked at me and took her seat.
That night I got off at like 2 am and I knew I had a long walk to the car. For some reason I didn't feel comfortable walking to my car alone. As I put the last thing in my bag and turned off my computer, Marlen was standing there
"I'll walk you to your car"
"Thanks"
We walked up to the elevators and rode them up and walked out the building together. Marlen made sure that I walked on the inside and he held me close to him. I started to relax and felt safe with him being there.
"Look I'm not trying to be rude but I'm hurt"
"You have every right to be hurt. I left and there are no excuses. No matter what I tell you it still won't take back from the fact that I disappeared. So I'll spare the lies and story."
"Fine with me"
Marlen walked me to my car and he waited til I got in and he closed the door. I watched him walk to the car that right behind mine and get in. I was jealous cause homeboy just got into a Range.
I wonder what he really doing or was doing or if he comes from money to get that car.
I got home in no time and sent him a text telling him that I made it and thanks again.
I walked through the house and heard a tv on in a room. I walked to what used to be Jade room and opened the door. I saw her asleep in the new bed and with the tv on. I walked back out the room and closed the door
I went and took a shower and then a bath. I just thought that it was funny how Jade comes back around when Marlen comes back into the picture.
When I got up in the morning Jade was gone. I didn't hit her up and neither did she.
I continued the rest of the work week. When my Friday came my girl, Lauren met me at the house. As we were walking in the apartment both Marlen and Jade were there. We spoke to them and went to my room. Lauren closed the door
"So you want me to address the elephant in the room or nah sis?"
I ignored Lauren and took my shoes off.
Lauren throws a pillow at me.
I walk out the room with the two shopping bags and I go into the kitchen
"Surprised to see ya here and that ya know each other"
"Actually when I came home he was hanging outside. He said that he knew you and Denve"
"So you just let strangers into the home then?"
"He has a picture of him and Denve"
"Still but ya seem like ya know each other"
"Nope we don't right Marlen"
Marlen just looks at Jade and then picks up his phone
"So how do ya know each other then"
"Sis I just said I don't know him"
"Rae we know each other from in passing. Didn't know ya was friends"
"Like how you said was and how one of ya can communicate. Did ya date, talk, fuck, kiss?"
"About two years ago we went out on a date. She said that I wasn't her type but she had a friend for me that would work out for her"
I look at Jade
" you were always so busy so my plans of ya meeting didn't work out. Once you got that new job and was working right by him, I was like it's fate"
"I still didn't know who you were cause she wouldn't tell me who you were. One day I saw a picture of you and her and I realized it was you. I didn't have her number anymore so I couldn't tell her"
"That still don't explain how ya both pop back up in my life at the same time"
"Sis I told you that I was going to do that teaching gig for a year. But you were always too busy"
"I'll tell you but I won't tell everyone cause. Cause at the end of the day it's just for you to know" Marlen says to me
" something still just don't seem right"
