Alexc

His lips were moving but I could not hear his words. My mind was too distracted. My eyes kept wondering out to the garden. That annoying little woman was laying on her front, her hazel locks spread out on the side of her in a brown frenzy. My mouth went dry and I had to take a big gulp of water.

"What do you think then boss?" Boss? Oh yeah. I snapped back to reality.

"What is it you were saying, sorry?" My team member raised his eyebrow at me slightly.

"Is it okay for us to survey the outside area, whilst the other team members take the inside reception on the night of Mr Carter's auction ball?" I made sure to listen this time.

Getting up to avoid looking outside to a certain someone I turned around and cleared my throat.

"Matt, you will be the eyes and ears of everyone that enters the ball that evening. Tim, you will be surveying the evening but will be undercover so no one knows you are actually security. Ahmed, Louis and Mark you will be inside. Do not fail me, and do not get distracted under any cost, understand?" I looked at my team as they all nodded their heads at the same time.

"We'll be off now then, boss" Matt smirked slightly as the others exiting the room. "You know she's off limits right?"

"who? Who the fuck you talking about?" I pressed my lips together tighly after speaking.

"Alyssa. I see the way you look at her man, I'm just saying...she's the big boss's daughter" I felt my hand curl up into a tight fist.

"You clearly have the wrong idea then. She's annoying as fuck" Matt burst out laughing at this statement before shaking his head and walking out. I narrowed my eyes at him as he disappeared from view.

"I hope you weren't talking about me"

That voice. Man, it was like silk. I turned around and saw Alyssa standing by the dining table, she was clutching onto 5 books trying to balance them neatly on top of each other.

"Go on, answer me! Who is annoying as fudge?"

"I said fuck baby" I spoke walking closer to her this time.  Her cheeks flushed a bright shade of crimson and it sort of melted my heart a little. How can she be so innocent?

She held her head up high trying to look me directly in the eyes, it was hard as I was so much taller than her.

"Who were you talking about huh?" I took a step closer to her.

"You" I whispered right near her ear.

Alyssa

It has been two annoyingly long weeks since my dad had hired Alexc as the new head of security. Apparently, his job was to follow me around the house and annoy the living day lights out of me. My dad had made it clear however that he was doing the same to all our family members, considering my dad's status me and my family were potentially under threat at all times. I didn't ever have to look for Alexc, he was always just there. I just had to look up or to the right or left and there he was! Standing with his hands stuffed in his jacket, those dark black sunglasses and occasionally inhaling poison. He made it clear to me he found me annoying and I said the same back. Idiot.

It was a beautifully sunny afternoon and I was standing in my dressing room. Windows fully open to allow the gentle breeze from outside to enter my room.

Tonight was my dad's auction ball, he would auction beautiful paintings from around the worlds and give the money to charity. I loved my dad for what he did.

"Erh!" I huffed to myself looking at the different gowns I had taken out and splattered across the floor. I could never find the perfect outfit for these things. I stared at myself in the mirror as I tried on an elegant light pink gown. It was floor length but slightly off my shoulders. I lifted my slightly wavy hair in a rough bun imagining how it would look if my hair was up.

A knock on the door interrupted me. I let go of my hair in an instance looking towards who was at the door.

"What do you want, Alexc?" I turned around and saw he was now leaning against the door. I could see his eyes trail down the length of my body.

"My eyes are up here!" I snapped at him causing Alexc to look at me slightly wide eyed.

"Calm your cotton socks, love"

"I'm not wearing any socks! And stop calling me your love, I will never be your love!" Alexc stared at me and I tried to slow down my beathing. Why did he always wind me up?

I turned back to look at him and felt like the tension in the room could be cut with a knife.

"I'm staring at you because I think you look too darn –"

"Alyssa!" My sister barged into that room at the entirely wrong moment. What was he going to say?

Too darn...

Stupid?

Annoying?

Ugly?

I swallowed the lump in my throat.

"He's way too hot, dad just hired a big pile of eye candy" My sister winked at me as Alexc walked out turning to look at me once before leaving the room fully.

I looked at my sister as she grabbed a brush from my dressing table and started to detangle her blonde hair.

"He's just annoying" I mumbled even though my heart was still beating so very fast.
