                      Judgment Day

“Mister and Misses Miyuki you are coming with me.” Two police officers were at the entrance of a beautiful household while two adults who appeared to be mister and misses Miyuki were standing in shock as the two men took out handcuffs

“On what charges?”Mr.Miyuki yelled as he crossed his strong arms. His scowl got even more frightening the more he had to wait for an answer as his wife just sobbed about how they did nothing wrong. The atmosphere in the room was unbearable as they had a stare down.

The oldest of the men pulled out a paper from his black bag hanging from his side and he scanned it as he read, “You two are charged with murder and theft. Your hearing will be in 3 days, but before then we will have to contain you in a jail cell.” The man seemed heartless and cold, his tone of voice was like one of a nagging aunt. As the officer spoke the other started to cuff the couple and was telling them their rights.

A girl came running up yelling, what is going on when she saw them being taken to the cop car. “What’s going on?” she repeated as her voice cracked as tears streamed down her face, “Mom…dad…where are they taking you?” Once she reached her parents she tried to catch her breath, her blue eyes were filled with distress.

“It’s alright baby…we should be back home in 3 days.” The mom said with a soothing and reinsuring voice, the way she always spoke. The man held tight on her wrists only letting her say those few words before pushing her into the car. Her dad was already in it but looked over at her and smiled, he didn’t seem as sure as her mom but he was forcing a smile.

Nothing seemed the same to her since that day. It was hard to force herself to go to school when knowing her parents were being accused of something that they didn’t do. It’s only been 2 days yet it felt like weeks, the agony of coming home to an empty house was sickening and it only felt worst the closer the trial was.

“Yuri!” Her teacher belted out at her while she was staring out the window. She looked very stern as she hit the ruler against her palm glaring at Yuri.

“Sorry Ms.Drise.” She looked down to her blank notes and began to write as the lesson started up again, her bangs covered her blank eyes as she focused on her work. Today was just another day, nothing but notes and a quiz. The bell rang for dismissal and she closed her books and put them in her brown messenger bag. She had no reason to stop and socialize; she didn’t have any friends and didn’t find much need for one because it always ends with more trouble than its worth. Yuri rose from her desk and straightened out her school uniform and headed home.

“Today’s the day…” Yuri mumbled under her breath as she was getting up the next morning. It was Saturday so she slept in a little late, which was very unlike her. After rolling out of bed she did her normal routine. Her navy blue hair was up in a ponytail and she was in a nice blue dress, she wanted to make a good impression for her parents at court. She grabbed her little black purse and shoved her cell phone in it as she headed out the door, making certain to lock it.

The court hearing was long and agonizing, question after question, long debates. Finally the jury came up with a decision. Yuri tugged at the ends of her hair waiting for the response hoping that her parents could come home with her. “Not guilty.” Those words made a big smile go across her face, and her parents seemed just as happy as her.

They walked out the doors together, facing a mob of news reporters. They kept on pestering them about how they felt and if the jury was correct. The noise was overpowering but it wasn’t as bad as the sudden silence. Mister and Misses Miyuki collapsed after clutching their hearts. The news reporters didn’t even say a word they just recorded the scene as Yuki cried over her dead parents’ bodies.

On the screen of the giant TV in the town square Sakura TV displayed a white picture with the name ‘Kira’ on it. Everyone stopped and stared as a computerized voice said, “The justice system has failed again. I, Kira, will fix the flaws of this world. Those who are associated with criminals and choose not to take action are just as bad as those doing the unlawful acts. I will exterminate those who are not contributing to make this world a better place. I am Kira….I am JUSTICE!” The faces in the crowd looked shocked and whispers filled the silence that was once there.

“Miss, you must come with me.” A man grabbed Yuri’s shoulder as he showed her his police badge that had the name Taro Matsui on it. She scrambled on her feet as he pushed through the crowds and brought her to a blue sports car, she had a hard time leaving her parents but there was nothing she could do now.

Once they got in the car she was completely silent, so he just spoke to explain to her what was going on, “The Japanese police force is going to keep you on watch. There is a chance that Kira is either going to try to kill you or contact you. I’m sorry this isn’t going to be easy for you, but you must stay with us for the time being.” He tried to smile but failed miserably once she started to cry. Taro begin to seem as if he was going to freak out when he finally calmed himself down as he announced that they were at their destination.
