Chapter 3 - Stained Hearts

    Daniel was breathing, breathing extremely heavily at the horrifying sight at his mother on her knees and a knife pressed against her neck, one slice could kill her instantly.

He wanted to crawl out of his hiding place and simply yell at the men who surrounded her mother but he knew that it was a terrible idea.

Where is dad? He could have fixed this! He could have saved Mom! But he soon quickly realized that his father had gone on a business trip outside of Ospuycor, far away from it.

" Goddamn it.." He cursed quietly as he stared at his dirty, dust covered hands before glancing up at the scene that was unfolding.

" Where the fuck are your damn kids, you stupid bitch!?" One of the men had yelled at Daniel's mother who was currently trembling in fear from what was happening.

Daniel could clearly see the fear in his mother's eyes as she shakily replied, " I-I don't know! They went out play today! Th-that's all I know..!"

Daniel narrowed his eyes slightly as he felt his blood begin to boil as his anger continued to increase.

One of the men had slapped his mother across the face, their eyes had a furious, raging tint to them as they gritted their disgusting, cavity filled teeth. " Tell us where they are!" He shouted at her, the mother wailed helplessly.

" Please sir, I really don't know!"

" Well, you've gotta remember where they asked you to go!"

Daniel felt a small tap on his shoulder, causing him to whip his head around in absolute surprise.

" Shh! It's ok, it's just me." The voice of his older brother, Kai was heard in a whisper while Raven, Qrow, and Anti were pressed against the rubble, sitting near Daniel.

" What the hell are you guys doing here?" Daniel asked quietly, as he tilted his head at his big brother and his friends.

" We came after you!" Anti loudly whispered,
" We couldn't have let you go here alone!"

Daniel soon noticed that the yelling in front of him had gotten quiet and only sound of his mother's heavy breathing could be heard.

Soon, Daniel could hear footsteps coming towards him and where his friends were pressed against the rubble, his head had slowly dropped until he was now staring at the ground, his heavy breathing had returned as the footsteps had stopped.

Daniel slowly looked up to see one of the men dressed in black staring down at him.

" Hey little guy.." he said softly, as his left arm was slowly moving behind his back to grasp something.

" DANIEL!" His mother had shouted as a sudden surge of energy bursted through her as she began to wiggle furiously and start to spit curses at the man who was still standing in front of Daniel.

" Mom, no!" Daniel had shouted as he attempted to run towards her but failed when the tall man in front of him blocked him from moving.

As Daniel's mother continued to struggle, she didn't notice that the man who had held up a knife to her neck had it now pressed against her throat, " Time's up." The man who held her down whispered before the knife sunk into her neck, a loud, pain filled screech emerging from Daniel's mother.

" MOM!" He shouted as he rushed forwards before being kicked backwards by the same man who had blocked him.

The pain was intense and a purple bruise was left on Daniel's cheek as the man stood over Daniel and raised his black, leather boot to his face.

" Light's out."

And everything went black.
