Inauguration Day

January 20th 1964

Jackie had planned her outfit for Jack's 2nd inauguration since Christmas. It wasn't as cold as it was the last time so she didn't have to wear a heavy coat. Today was a surprisingly warm day. Jackie wore a custom made red maternity coat and a matching pillbox hat. Jack had asked her to wear this colour as in colour, she would stand out.

Jack was asking a special camera to film it in colour so he could admire Jackie's bright red costume later on.

Eventually the car arrived to pick them up to take them to the Capitol. When walking down the stairs to Cross Hall, Jack leaned in and kissed Jackie. "I'm so glad it's Inauguration Day" Jack smiled. "Get the stress of this address over" Jack joked. Jackie laughed. "And what's more it shows all those reporters. I remember it clearly. 'New Kennedy baby due before Inauguration Day' " Jackie laughed.

Jack had to unleash the giggles that were building up in him. They laughed until they stepped outside and went into the car. Jackie looked her radiant self all the ride to the Capitol.

Jack put his hand on Jackie's thigh and rubbed it gently. Jackie joked with him. "Behave yourself Mr President!". Jackie playfully hit his hand and they laughed.

They kissed in the car before holding hands.

Capitol building

Jackie was already in the bleachers but Jack was inside the Capitol building. He felt someone pat his shoulder.

"Alright Jack?" Lyndon asked with a big grin and his strong Texas accent. Jack hadn't seen Lyndon since the late days of November. "Lyndon!" Jack hugged him tightly! "Hey" Jack had never hugged Lyndon before and he was surprised but happy.

"Woah, that was a surprise" Lyndon grinned. They laughed. "Oh, where's Jackie?" Lyndon asked looking about. "Oh she's already up on the bleachers" Jack pointed through the door in front of them that looked out onto the podium.

White House

Jackie's bedroom, 4am

The Kennedys had just got back from the inaugural balls. Jackie was wearing a beautiful gown that was gold. It had a beautiful bodice and it had long sleeves. Even though it was warm that day, it was freezing at night.

When Jack was about to go to bed, Jackie called his name. "What is it kid?" Jack asked. Jackie rubbed her stomach. It was sore but it wasn't labour. "Jack, I just want you to know that I am extremely proud of you. The kids told me that they watched you on TV and they loved it. I could hear it all and I want you to that..." Jackie began to cry.

Jack embraced her in his arms. He kissed her softly. "Don't cry Jackie" he wiped away her tears with his knuckle. Jackie smiled. She continued what she was saying. "Anyway, at the last inauguration, I was proud of you and I loved you. But since we lost Patrick over a year ago, I have loved you even more. And today that's why I was so happy. I was beaming because of you" Jackie smiled with tears of happiness running down her face.

Jack smiled and he kissed her again. "Jackie since we got married, I have been proud of you today and you don't know how happy I am to hear you say that you're proud of me and I make you happy" Jack cried this time. They hugged before settling into bed. Jack decided to sleep in beside Jackie.

Jackie's bedroom, 5am

Jackie lay on her side, with her hand supporting her bump from the bottom. Jack lay into her back. Even though Jackie was asleep she could feel it and it made her feel safe and cheerful. She smiled as she felt Jack slowly move his hand on hers. Her right one that was placed on her bump. She smiled but Jack didn't notice.

She felt him grip it tight. Jackie moved her hand so that it was fixed into his. She opened her eyes slightly and she rolled over. She saw Jack looking down her on angel face. He smiled. They kissed before Jack whispered to her, "You're Mrs John F Kennedy and you always will be". They both fell asleep in each other's arms.
