Chapter 17

The Blue Room

5th April

Jackie put on her white dress. Even though, she was distraught, she had agreed to do this photoshoot with Jack and baby Kick.

She met Jack downstairs who greeted her with a kiss. "Good morning, my love" Jack smiled. Jackie wrapped her arms around Jack's neck. "Good morning" she smiled.

They broke apart and laughed when Bobby walked past and shouted "Oh get a room!".

Mrs Shaw handed Kick over to them, and they took their places in front of the grey backdrop.

The camera bulbs popped and then flashed, which made both of them blink a few times at first. They threw away those frames and took new photos.

Once it was done, Jackie headed up to the private rooms. "I'll see you at dinner?" she asked Jack. "Maybe, I need to plan a statement with Pierre for the whole baby thing" Jack frowned.

Jackie nodded and fixed his tie. "Well, try not to make it too upsetting. And I'll watch it on TV when it is published" Jackie kissed her husband.

Well it wasn't really a kiss. More like a peck on the lips; like she was a bird. They hugged before Jackie went upstairs.

Oval Office

"Well Jack, you need to make a statement" Pierre demanded, banging his fist on the desk. "The public only know that Mrs Kennedy was in hospital but they don't know why" Pierre dumped a whole load of paper on the table and Jack just looked at it.

"So get writing" Pierre said before leaving the room. Jack sighed before he began to think.

Yellow Oval Room

It was late, Jack had came up for dinner and returned downstairs. Jackie sat and watched just anything on TV. She was bored as her next engagement wasn't until May.

She was half asleep until it was announced on the TV: 'And now, a statement from the White House'

Jackie sat up immediately. Pierre came up onto the podium and he stood there, with the paper.

Suddenly Jack burst in. "Hey kid" he leaned in immediately and kissed her. They sat and watched the statement together.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is an official statement from the First Family. The reason Mrs Kennedy was in hospital, was because she miscarried a baby, that would have been the twin of their latest child Kathleen. The First Couple, wish for privacy at this time and thank many people who have sent their condolence. Thank you". Pierre got it out before disappearing behind the door.

The second it was done, a murmur went around the crowd of photographers and reporters, who were shocked to hear the news. But it needed to be done.
