vi. THE HORIZON TRIES BUT IT'S JUST NOT AS KIND ON THE EYES
(arctric monkeys—arabella)
Today wasn't as sunny as it used to, a gloomy cloud had covered most of the sky, painted in melancholy grey colours, too deprived to let the sun surface. My heart was the same. The sky had felt the same as I was now, battling with my calamitous emotional state.
I went to the park now, dejected that I didn't find you yesterday. I was determined to see you, determined to find you even if that meant I had to explore the city and rummaged at every corner of it, every empty alley I encounter. I would just to see you one more time, gripped and never let your hands go.
The wind was a little tad more vehement than any other day, I had enveloped my body with a jacket, an umbrella clutched in my hand. My eyes were frantic, scanning all over the place, trying to locate your familiar face.
You weren't under the same oak three like on that Monday morning, you weren't sitting on any of the benches and I was starting to feel anxious that I might not find you there.
After I made sure that I had explored and went through the park for at least thrice, I walked back towards the entrance of the park but then I saw your dark hair, and that bag slugged on your right shoulder, a skateboard gripped on your left side. You had your head downward, earphones plugged in your ears once again, unaware of my figure.
So I rushed to you despite the sting I felt on my feet, I had walked around far too long without a single pause to take a break. I guessed you heard the wild footsteps coming towards you that you looked up from the ground, your eyes widened in alarm upon seeing me sprinting to you.
"Felix!" I breathed out when I reached you, grasping your arms like my life depended on it as your left hand dropped your skateboard on the ground and instinctively grabbed mines as well.
"Woah, woah!" You backtracked, your tone indicated that you were both perplexed and concerned yet your eyes glint in amusement. "What happened?"
"We need to go the police!" I reiterated hysterically at him. By then his expression had gone absolutely alarmed.
"What? Why? Hold on, control your breaths first." Your right palm reached out to my sweat-covered cheek, your skin burned into mine and I didn't even care that a stranger was touching me. Because it just felt right to have your hand covered my cheek entirely, calming me down. "In, out, in, out. Do it with me, come on."
I closed my eyes just for a moment and started to attempt to follow the rhythm of your own breaths. When I opened them again, your starry eyes greeted me; so close, so beautiful. God had made a wonderful job of sculpturing your face; strong jaw, not too long nose and full lips, not forgetting to paint those constellation-liked freckles across your nose and cheeks.
My thoughts were full of static, I felt a lunar eclipse on my fingertips, I was drawn in your galaxy deep obsidians, as clear as a brittle kaleidoscope. I felt like we were more than just space dust, we were born on a cosmic wonderland and a supernova couldn't break us. Before I knew it, I was too late. I was already star struck and into deep.
