I suspected something was definitely up when Jesse was standing at the Dunking Donuts counter and I was waiting for him at a table. He was never nice to me unless he wanted me apart of one of his idiotic plans to prove a point. Usually I tagged along just to say I told you so or laugh at him when it backfired. But, with the look he gave me in the car I was worried about this plan. Jesse came back to the table with my order as well as his own.

"One Oreo coolatta and small apple fritter," he said. Jesse slid me my food and sat in his chair across from mine.

"Thanks," I said. I was still skeptical but hey, this was a chance for me to have a bite to eat without having to pay out of my own pocket. Usually I would offer to pay for my own because that is how I was raised, but this was Jesse. He didn't really apply to that rule.

After a few minutes of awkward silence between me and Jesse something told me to say something. I hated silence. "So, whats up?" I asked.

"Nothing much, just grounded that's all." Jesse smirked. Oh gosh.

"Wow Jesse. You are always in trouble. Wait, if you are grounded, why are we here? Shouldn't you be home kissing butt so that you can get un-grounded?" I asked. I took a sip of my smoothie carefully so that I wouldn't get a brain freeze.

"Nah, its all good. If my mom and dad ask where have I been I just say with you. I honestly dont know why but my parents absolutely love you Lena," he rolled his eyes. My heart jumped when he said my name.

"Hey!" I said. I just understood the small dig that he threw in with his answer.

"Ha." Jesse smiled wide and took a bite of his donut.

"So, do you always tell them you are with me?" I asked.

"Yeah, pretty much. They think you are a 'good influence' on me." He added air quotes around good influence.

"Well I could see where they are coming from," I thought hard about it. Jesse has always been the trouble maker. And now that we are teenagers he has been even more rebellious and have an even bigger attitude. It didn't help that Jesse had five other siblings to add to the stress of his parents. So, if Jesse told them that he was hanging out with me then they would feel more at ease. They would think that I was rubbing off on him and keeping him out of trouble. But, at the same time is wasn't right that he was lying and dragging me into it.

"Whatever Adams," he chuclked. Jesse set his arms on the table. "So, do you want to make a deal with me?" Oh God. Here we go. I thought. This is where the big plan came in.

"Ugh, what is it Jesse?" i asked.

"Do you want to be my girlfriend?" he asked. I choked on my fritter I started coughing uncontroallably. My heart seemed to have stopped working and it seemed as if my brain could no longer make words. I was just sitting there spazzing out with Jesse just staring at me.
