Ajani

As I drove Samaria and I to class, I couldn't help but appreciate the beautiful Washington, DC scenery. Having two cars in our house makes it so much easier to get around because Samaria and I play basketball for Howard, which means that our schedules are so much different from Aniyah and Jakayla's. We aren't allowed to leave campus during the day until after we finished practice, and most days we have 6 am workouts but our coach said that we could have this week off.

Pulling up to the campus, it was just our luck that there was barely any parking anywhere near our African American history class. I honestly cant wait for the drop-add period to end so people would stop coming to class. Once we found parking, we got out and went to go find Aniyah and Jakayla.

They were parked on the far side of the building and it took us about five minutes to find them, which let us with only 5 minutes to find our class and get situated.

Reaching the door to the classroom, we walked into a class of around 30 students and the only seats that were left were scattered about the room. I took the seat on the far right of the classroom next to an empty desk that I figured was occupied due to the backpack in the seat.

Not thirty seconds after that thought crossed my mind, in walks the most handsome man that I have ever seen in my life. He was medium toned with facial features that were next to perfect, around 6'3 with an athletic build, and unlike a lot of guys around here he looks well put together. I also couldn't help but notice that he was dressed in a Pittsburgh Pirates jersey, black jeans that were ripped on one knee, the New Love Jordan 1's, and to set the outfit off, he had around four gold chains around his neck along with a gold Bulova watch. In other words, he looked like he was the sugar honey iced tea!

As he walkes towards me, we made eye contact that felt longer than a century. I probably look so thirsty right now but his eyes were putting me in a trance, and it wasn't until he sat down in the desk next to me that i broke out of the trance.

"Hi I'm Luka," he said with the smoothest voice I've ever heard. He had evidence of an accent, but i couldn't tell from where.

"Um, hi I'm Ajani," I say to him. I am not an expert considering social interactions. I mainly stick between my roommates and my brother, and those are the people I'm comfortable with, but this is far out of my comfort zone.

"Its nice to meet you beautiful," he responds. I smile and go to thank him but our professor comes into the classroom, so I mouth the words, "Thanks, you too."

"Good morning, I am Professor Davis and welcome to SYD 4730 - Sociology of the Black Experience," she explained as she crossed the classroom to hand out the rather thick syllabus.

LUKA

Barely making it back to class on time, I walk in and I am instantly met with the most beautiful face that I have seen thus far.

This girl not only looked amazing, but she looked well put together. From her red top that made her skin tone appear as if it was radiating, to her Bred Toe 1's, she was immaculate. A sheer work of art.

Walking to the seat that occupied all of my things. I introduce myself. What I got next was completely unexpected, her voice sounded like an angel's, but after finding out that her name was Ajani, I told her that it was very nice to meet her. She was about to respond but not before our professor walks in and starts to introduce herself.

"I don't think I am going to dread this class to my surprise," I think to myself as I begin to get lost within my thoughts.

Sometime before the end of class, I slipper her a note that said, "I would love to get to know you :))" along with my number.

I have never been rejected in my life but I honestly don't think that it would hurt coming from someone that looks as good as she does. But that also doesn't mean that I don't want to get to know her because I do.

Ever since my dad got relocated at the FBI Headquarters in DC, I haven't actually made any friends. Well I've met plenty of cool people but once they find out my father has an affiliation with the Feds, they seem to distance themselves rather quickly. But because I know that this is such a great opportunity for my dad, to not only get a promotion but now have the responsibility of protecting the nation's capital, I am trying my best to cope to my new surroundings. "Hopefully I can count on her to be my first official friend in this new place," I think to myself as class is dismissed.
