Online Masks

Chapter 1

 Adrien P.O.V

I wake to the sound of my alarm, blaring at me to get up for school. I pick up my phone to check the time - 6:30. I unlock it and click onto the app called "Kwami".

"Kwami" is a communication app used by people who want to communicate with others but want to conceal their identity, somewhat like a mask. I'm one of those people. I use it because I want to find people who want to get to know the real me, not because I'm the son of Gabriel. It also allows me to be my true self, not the "perfect son" and "goody two-shoes" person I'm viewed to be.

I've talked to a lot of people on the app but there was only one person I talk to every day and really connect with - Ladybug. She's amazing and I love talking to her, we both worked out that we went to the same school and are in the same year, but she stopped talking about it since she told me, "our identities must remain a secret". I don't know why, and I want to know why, but I don't ask. I open up our chat and text her:

Chat_Noir: Good Morning M'lady

I finally get out of bed and prepare for the school day ahead. I walk in into the bathroom to have a shower and get changed into my famous casual look of a black tee with colored strips, a white jacket, jeans, and orange converse and head downstairs for breakfast and to meet Nathalie, my father's assistant. I sit in silence, eating my breakfast as Nathalie reads me my schedule for today. I have school, two photo shoots and piano practice, you might think that it sounds busy but it's the usual for me. Being the son of Gabriel Agreste, I have to do a lot of stuff to keep up with his expectations of me. I finish breakfast and walk out to the car to head to school while heading to school I checked my phone and saw a notification from M'lady:

_Ladybug_: Morning Kitty

I quickly reply with:

Chat_Noir: How are you Purrincess?

I know she hates it when I call her princess and she doesn't necessarily like my puns, but I just love doing it.

_Ladybug_: *eye roll* I'm good and yourself?

Chat_Noir: Good. I know you secretly love my puns

_Ladybug_:  You wish

I chuckle lightly to myself before putting my phone away and heading to the car and going to school.

My driver pulled up in front of the school and I thank him as I exit the car. I spot my mate Nino waiting for me in front of the school. "Hey dude!" he yells while waving at me

"Hey Nino, what's up?"

"Nothing much, you?"

"I've been doing good."

"Any luck with this mysterious girl you're talking to online?" Of course, I told him about my princess, he's my closest friend and I have to have someone help me with all this girl stuff. I shake my head –

"Nothing else has happened since I last talked to you about it" Nino could tell I was starting to get a little desperate.

"It's alright dude, she'll lighten up to you at some point," he tells me while placing his arm around me "So, any clue who she is?"

I shake my head, "I really want to know but she doesn't want us to know each other's identities" We both hear the bell ring signaling five minutes before class starts so Nino and I walked into the school to get ready for our first class.
