Be okay without me
Jess' POV
"I'm starving. I only ate an apple." I said. Class was a drag today. All my students were on overdrive. Those little munchkins have so much energy.
"Whose fault was that?" Chris asked. I glared at him.
"You do not want to get on my bad side right now." I warned him as we stepped inside the elevators. I definitely get hangry. He sighed.
"And here I thought we were on good terms." He said. That did it. Thank god we're alone in the elevator.
"Excuse me?! Good terms? You've got to be kidding me! It's been four months Chris! FOUR! You haven't told her anything! I had to cover your ass the other day - you're welcome by the way! You still haven't called off things with ugly Beth. You said you would and you haven't. What the hell is taking you so long?! I promise you, that if you don't tell her, I will Chris! I'm sick of it. I'm not covering for you anymore. You're not my best friend, Melody is. I'm giving you one more month Chris." I said with finality.
"That's not enough time. She can't walk." He said through gritted teeth.
"Oh I'm sorry. Who are you breaking up with? Melody or ugly Beth? Last I checked, Melody didn't have to walk in order for you to break up with Ugly Beth. Unless it's Melody you're breaking up with. Do you feel bad breaking up with her because she can't walk?" I asked angry.
"Shut up Jessica." He said again angry. I scoffed a laugh.
"Wow. You don't know who you want. I hate you so much right now. If I could I would sock you, but then that'll make Melody question it. Keep in mind that the only reason I haven't told Melody is because of her. She's already broken hearted. She doesn't need you to break it more." I said as the elevator opened. We walked to the cafeteria in silence. We got food and paid.
"Want to sit here and eat or take it up?" Chris asked.
"I would rather sit here." I said. He looked contemplated. "Want to go back to the girl you're cheating on?" I asked making him glare at me. Low blow, but he deserves it. I sat down and Chris followed suit. We stayed quiet for several minutes until I spotted the one person who makes my blood boil. "Didn't I tell you not to show up here?" I asked.
"My cousins awake and she's fine with my being here." She smiled at me.
"That's because she doesn't know the truth." I said looking at Chris.
"I didn't come here to see you ok." She said before moving her gaze to Chris. "Hey." She greeted him with a small voice. I scoffed.
"I'm done with my food. I'm out." I said.
"We have to go back up together." Chris said to me.
"No we don't." I said.
"Please. Melody..." He sighed looking away.
"Fine. Let's go." I said. Ugly Beth cleared her throat.
"I actually wanted to talk to you." She said to Chris. He sighed.
"I can't right now." He said looking at her sadly.
"You keep saying that. So when?" She asked sounding impatient. "You're always with her. She doesn't want you to leave her side because she becomes a mess-"
"You have some nerve-"
"Quit it." Chris interjected.
"Want me to wait for you or not?" I snapped.
"I'm sorry Bethany. I promise I'll make it up to you." He said. I rolled my eyes.
"When? Chris in two months it's our anniversary..." she said in a quiet voice. Chris looked pained. This was only pissing me off. They're making me want to run to Melody and tell her.
