Opportunist
Jessica's POV
Fall semester is about to start...
Melody hasn't woken up yet... What am I supposed to do? We already registered for classes... And I honestly don't feel like going without her... But I have to. I know she wouldn't want me to stop going to Uni.
Jessica stop it! Stop thinking negative thoughts. Think positive. Stay positive. Melody is going to wake up before the semester starts. I know it -- I can feel it.
I sighed and continued to brush Melody's hair. I had to keep it nice for her. That's the least I could do. Chris usually changes her socks every week. Each foot with a different colored sock. I had started changing her socks first, but once Chris saw I was putting on the same pair he moved me out of the way and changed one sock, putting on a different color. Melody would never have matching socks; each side would be a different one-- she would always come up with the excuse of not washing, but she would do it repeatedly so we figured it was her thing.
Chris walked over to Melody's other side and rubbed her stomach like he usually does. He hasn't talked much. Not even about the miscarriage. He doesn't like talking about it. I guess he got his hopes up when he found out Melody was pregnant. I can't even imagine how Melody is going to react.
"Wake up Mels." Chris said to her. I looked at Melody's face for any change. She tends to go towards his voice so maybe she'll wake up! "Melody, please." Chris pleaded silently. I squeezed her hand, my eyes getting watery.
I sighed and looked away. The door opened revealing Melody's hunk of a brother -- don't judge! I'm not cheating on Daniel. You can look, but not touch. Speaking of Daniel... Our relationship has been... I don't know. It's not the same. We're not the same anymore. At least not right now. I think all this stress is just weighing on us.
Dave came behind Allan, along with melody's mom - I forgot her name, whoops I'm starting to be like Melody - and Katherine. They all came down here. I don't know when they're going back, all I know is that they're missing a lot of stuff back home because they've been here for nearly a month.
"She's still sleeping." Her mom said, coming closer to Melody. She had a sad frown on her face. I moved out of the way to let her through. She caressed her forehead sweetly, and kissed it. I looked around the room, there were so many artificial flowers, and 'Get Well Soon' cards including one from the elementary school we work at. The room was so lit up and beautiful, yet it feels so gloomy. Real flowers aren't allowed in here, neither are balloons.
The door opened again revealing The ugly duckling and Daniel. I glared at him. What in the hell is he doing with that... Mutt. He rolled his eyes at me when he noticed my glare. See what I mean about our relationship not being the same!? He defends that thing too much.
Ugly Beth walked over to Chris' side. That opportunist! Every time she comes to visit Melody, she goes straight to Chris! Always! And she comes to the hospital a lot. That's one of the times Chris would talk or give a small smile. Daniel says it's because ugly Beth has been through all of this, and they can relate to how the other feels. Relate my ass! She's taking advantage of Melody being in a coma to get at Chris! It's obvious. I opened my mouth about to give her a remark.
"Don't start." Daniel muttered to me annoyed so no one else could hear.
"Don't you start." I said back to him.
"You're being rude, you need to stop." He whispered back.
"I would agree with you, but then we would both be wrong." I muttered. He nudged his shoulder to mine and gave me a 'I'm not playing around' look. I rolled my eyes unhappy with him.
