Third period (Chemistry class), I write in my notebook. I love this class and my lab partner is my best friend Thomas. He and Natasha are in a little quarrel because they both tried out for the cheerleading team but Natasha didn't make it. If anything I'm really proud of Tom, he has worked really hard to become a cheerleader he even took dance lessons ever since middle school. "Val, you coming over Friday for our Harry Potter movie marathon", he asks with hopeful eyes. Tom is just the sweetest person anyone could meet. He doesn't hate easily, which is why we are friends because I have a feeling I've bugged him a lot. "I really really wish I could but I have a test next Monday and I'm going to need all the studying I could get", I can't forget Tom doesn't really take no for an answer. "Excuse me for my potty out but that's bull-", I cut him off with a glare, "Sorry, but at least take a little break, please we could study early in the day then watch movies right after, PLEASE!!". God, please don't make him get on his knees, I can't have this again. "Okay, okay deal." "Yeah you better say yes I can't watch without you, you're the Fred to my George". I laugh and his comment but my smile fades quickly, "Wait that just made me sad". He laughs and nudges me with his elbow.
While putting my beaker into the sink to rinse it out I see Vincent walking up to me out of the corner of my eye. Please ignore me, please ignore me, talk to anyone but me. "Hey, Valerie", I roll my eyes and turn to him with a fake smile plastered on my face. "Hi Vincent, you want me to clean your beaker? Okay, I'll take your beaker you go sit down", I say gently taking the beaker out of his hands. "No, actually I came here to talk to you". I wasn't shocked if anything I was disgusted, way to rain on my parade. I let out a sigh of visible disappointment, "What you want?". I can tell that my reaction was unexpected to him. "I was wondering if you, um wanted to maybe hang out this Friday?" For someone who is taller than me by a lot and tougher too, he seemed really embarrassed and I could tell when he asked in almost a whisper. "No", I say disgusted. "I'm sorry, what? D-did you say no?" . Ugh does this boy need his ears cleaned out? "No, i'll pass maybe try again next time when its genuine and you and I are closer".
The bell rings to end class, I'm literally Saved By the Bell. I walk out of the class with Tom and him and I are talking about our plans for Friday when we hear running coming from behind us. "Valerie wait up!", Vincent yells running towards us. "Ugh, Tom remind me later to change my name". He rests his arm on my shoulder, "Don't worry Val, I'll see you at in the cafeteria". He walks off and a leaves me to wait for the sweaty mess running up to me. I cross my arms waiting for him, "Valerie, why did you say no?". Oh my gosh, this boy won't quit. "Why are you so surprised? I told you already why I said no." I raise my eyebrow at him genuinely curious to see his comeback, not expecting him to drop his backpack off his shoulder. He let out a sigh, "Look I have to get to lunch, can you just tell me what I have to do for you to say yes". Why am I helping this guy? I start walking away but shout out, "Maybe get to know me a little better, there is more to me than just a name and a face, there is a personality". I turn away from him satisfied with my comment proceeding down the hall to the cafeteria.
