Ch3: Gaining Trust

Nick's pov

I woke up to the sun shining in my eyes. I squinted my eyes shut but that did nothing so I sat up. Stretching out my muscles,i felt a pair of eyes fixed in me. I looked to the side. Judy was still asleep but Violet was sitting, staring at me.

I climbed out of bed and walked over to her, her eyes always fixed on me. "Hey Violet, did you sleep well?" I asked. All Violet did was stare at me like she hadn't heard me. I looked her over and noticed spots of blood on the sheets. I looked her over again and saw a bite mark in one of her arms.

I looked closet and noticed that it had been chewed and picked at. "Why are you hurting yourself?" I asked, concerned about her health. She didn't respond, only looked down at her paws. I looked down at one leg which was twisted, broken and scared.

Now that I took a closer look, I could see that there was quite a few Scars and missing clumps of fur." Who hurt you? Was it that fox?" I asked.
No reply
"I want to help you but I can't if you don't tell me what's wrong" I told her.

She looked up before nodding. "Why?" I asked, looking into her eyes. "B-because I k-illed my m-mum" she replied before she started picking at the wound in her arm again. I placed my paw on hers as she paused.

"I promise that I will help you but in return, you tell me what you get worked up about and you don't resort to causing yourself pain" I explained. "H-how can I b-elieve you?" she asked, not making eye contact anymore.

"Because I'm trustworthy and won't hurt you" I replied. It was suttle but I could see her nod. "Why don't you tell me why you don't walk upright" I explained.

"I can't. My leg was broken and p-ulled out of place
If I try to stand without s-support then I fall and pain shoots through m-y leg" she explained, fiddling with her paws.

"Is there anything else?" I asked. She hesitated before nodding
"I saw a pair of eyes o-outside and I t-hink it was my dad" she explained, pointing at the window I could tell that she was scared about this. I reached out a paw and stroked her arm as she looked up at me. "Whoever it was, I'll make sure that they don't hurt you" I assured her.

After saying that, I went to get a first aid kit. When I returned, I noticed that Judy was gone. I figured that she'd gone to get food and sat down on Violet's bed. She looked at me as I got a water and a cloth and started to clean up her wound.

She gritted her teeth in pain as I did this. Once the wound was clean, I put some cream on it and bandaged it up. I treated any other injuries as Judy walked in, heading me a drink and food. She then placed some food and drink in front of Violet as she sniffed it. After a good 5 minutes of sniffing, she finally ate the food as I relaxed, knowing that she found the food safe.

I finished treating her wounds and let her relax as I climbed off her bed, going to talk with Judy.
