Chapter 4
Sam made his way down the street, toward where he saw Big Ricco's Pizza on their way into town. It was a small town, Sam knew, and everyone seemed friendly enough. But things were just getting weirder in Night Vale. He had decided to stop several people on the street to ask if they had seen anything out the ordinary in Night Vale, and that's when it got down right freaky. After Sam had asked about the strange happenings, some people just continued on their way like he was invisible. Others simply laughed and continued walking, and the rest just screamed and ran down the street waving their arms in the air. What's the deal with Night Vale?
Sam finally made it to the laboratory next to Big Ricco's Pizza. The door was opened a crack and there was a tall man with long, black hair and tan skin in a lab coat. The man was bent over something at a table that was covered with beakers and boiling liquids in multiple colors. His back was to the door.
Sam knocked on the door, and the man turned around, reveling a pair of black glasses. "Hi, I'm Sam Winchester. My brother and I talked to Cecil about some odd things in Night Vale and he sent me here, to you." Sam moved around the door and into the lab. "I was hoping that you would have some information on the weird things in Night Vale." Sam shook Carlos' hand.
"Nice to meet you Sam," Carlos said. "I gotta say, not many people in Night Vale ask about the strange things here."
"Why do you think that is? I know that on my way here, when I tried to ask people about Night Vale, some ignored me, others laughed, but most of them just screamed and ran down the street."
Carlos shrugged. "Can't say for sure." Carlos dropped his voice to a whisper. "But I bet if we work together we can figure some things out."
"Right. Of course." Sam joined Carlos by the table.
"By the way," Carlos said. "I like your hair, Sam."
Sam chuckled. "I like yours, too, Carlos."
