Jennie's POV
We ended up staying out late. After we left the house, Lisa took me home. Although it seemed I'd been thinking about her a lot the day before, it didn't compare with how obsessed I was the following day, though the feeling was different. I found myself smiling for no good reason, something even my father noticed when he got home from work. He didn't comment on it-I hadn't expected him to. I know now that he's been pretty aware with what I'm doing. Even though he'd said little, I think he was happy for me and even more pleased that I'd been willing to share I was sure of it when I got home later that night and found a platter of fresh- baked peanut-butter cookies on the counter, along with a note that informed me that plenty of milk could be found in the refrigerator. Just like he always do when I was little
ON THE HOUSE -- NEXT DAY --
The rain has stopped, the sun is out. I arrive again at the house, bright and early and ready to work. A few other volunteers are already here. I head over to say hello -- and my mouth falls open. There's Lisa, up in the rafters, fitting a beam into it's frame. She grins at me, nods a silent hello.
"Hey I didn't know you'd actually volunteer" as I walk towards her.
"Now you know, I wouldn't mind lending a hand miss" circling an arm around my waists.
I leaned back slightly, as if I'm evaluating her expression. "You look like you missed me," i said, with a teasing voice.
As usual, Lisa couldn't think of a response, I love this effect I have on her, I winked and she lost it. She's blushing so mad....
"Maybe I missed you, too," I added. I planted a kiss just on her cheeks then off we go.
"Can you see it? What this house is going to be like when it's done?" I asked her
"Yes. I can." as she looks at my gaze
"We only have few days left, though." I answered back not breaking our gaze
"Don't worry. You'll finish." she said in assurancebut I was not talking about house. I'm talking about the last days we'll spend together.
Lisa's POV
We have done some works at the house. It's definitely coming together. I saw her said goodbye to the other volunteers and a little chitchat with some guy. I eyed them closely as she is taking too long we still have errands to run to. I quickly dodge my gaze as she look at me trying not to be obvious that I'm actually Jealous. Right after that she came.
I touched her bare shoulder. "You ready to go?" "As I'll ever be," she said. We started walking towards the car and I reached for her hand, her touch making me feel all was right with the world. Well, almost. . . .
I had the courage to talk. "I saw you talking to that guy," I said, trying to keep my voice neutral. She squeezed my hand.
"You did, huh?" she asked
I tried again. "I take it, you two got to know each other while you were working."
"We sure did. He's a nice young man. After he finishes here, he's heading up to New York for a six-week internship." she looks at me as she explains.
"Hmm," I grunted.
She laughed under her breath. "Don't tell me you're jealous?"
"I'm not." I quickly blurted.
"Good." she concluded, squeezing my hand again.
"Because there's no reason to be." I hung on those last few words. She didn't have to say them, but I couldn't be happier that she had. We reached the car and I opened the door for her. As soon as we got in she drew up her hair in a sloppy ponytail, then let it go. We strolled through the shops of Myeong-dong, where I discovered she had an interest in different styles of clothes. Later we decided to eat milk ice cream, because I saw her getting excited for it. It was actually her favorite. I found myself wondering if Jennie was too good to be true.
