Why am I friends with these idiots

Well... I did pick them of my own free will. As they say - You can't choose your family but I can choose your friends.

Logan's giving Sophie a piggyback ride, and Suzy was carrying Gabriela like a sack of potatoes. And they're making faces and are yelling nonsense.

I rolled my eyes and before I knew it they joined me at the table and just ordered milkshakes or coffees cause they already had breakfast.

"We're going to a farewell party this Friday," Sophie said while cuddling with Logan. He is so smitten with her. He's looking at her with adoration in his eyes and a stupid smile his face.

"So, Suzy will take our shift." She pointed at her. Gabriela still doesn't know about this part of our lives. So we are impelled to be secretive about our nighttime research.

"That's fine," I replied. "Honestly, I can't wait for the party. We haven't gone out in a long time. And it's an excuse for shopping." She stared at us with a big smile on her face. I turned my head to look out the window to avoid her gaze.

I don't mind going shopping but I already have a meeting to attend to. Nothing special just a meeting with the dean. I was offered a job at a cosmetics company, marketing department. They sent me a mail and in the next two days, I met with the manager of the department for a lunch meeting to discuss the details and the possibility of me accepting the job offer. And after thing for a while I accepted. Mainly because I could do most of the work from home which will give me more time for the investigation and for myself. And I will make more money, that's a plus.

So I have to discuss when will I leave and who will replace me.

Anyway, looks like I'm off the hook. Gabriela and Sophie are already planning which mall they will go to. Poor Lucas, she will clean him dry this week (she can go kind of crazy when shopping). Suzy was pouting, "But, but... what about me. I will be all alone!?" Gabbie hugged her. "Don't worry as soon as we are finished we can go out." That satisfied Suzy and she sealed the deal with a big smooch, that made Gabbie blush, and she shyly hid her face in the crook of Suzie's neck. I smiled fondly at the pair.

We didn't stay long at the diner. In the next hour or so Gabbie and Sophie left, so they can have more time for shopping, Lucas went with them, he is the designated driver and bag holder and Suzy left a few minutes after them.

And here I am, alone, again...

The dean wasn't really happy about my decision but there was nothing he could do to change my mind.

The rest of the day was uneventful.

Now, I'm at home laying down in my bed, playing with a coin I got from a good friend, apparently, it is an emblem that keeps you safe while sleeping. You just put it under your pillow and it does it's thing.

It shined under the moonlight. I should close the curtains otherwise the sun will blind me in the morning. But I am too lazy to do it 'cause I'm comfy and too tired.

I hear my phone vibrating on the desk, someones calling m. It's on the other side of the room. I must have left it there when I took my clothes off I put them in the hamper.

After a couple of minutes, it started again, someone was persistent. I quickly got out of bed and answered, after I saw that it was Ben calling.

"Yes?" I asked. "Hey, I hope I'm not interrupting," He said kind of excited. "No, no... You did not interrupt a thing," as you could have, I thought bitterly. "Why are you calling? Everything all right?" I closed the curtains and sat on the edge of the bed. " Yes, everything is all right, perfect even." he happily answered. "I just wanted to invite you for dinner next Saturday night, I have something to tell you!? Are you free?" Free, on a Saturday evening!!?? Yeah, right, like I have a private life. "Yeah, sure. I'll be there."

"Great, so I'll see you then. Bye." He enthusiastically ended the call. "Bye."

Looks like I'm going back to Jua.
