The dark

"Darkness" Gabby started to say. " that's all I remember from the first few days. They kept us locked in a small damp room without food or water." Gabby tried to continue and stay strong. "I was next to this girl who was an orthopaedic surgeon. Her name was Hannah. We became friends, if I could say that. One day I was forced to watch her drown."
"Gabby, I'm so sorry" Severide interrupted.
"After that, more and more people were taken and I never saw them again. Until they took me. I was tied to a wall and they kept asking me where base was. I kept saying I didn't know and every time they would just hit me harder and harder. They forced us to try and save some of their guys but some of them didn't make it and when that happened, they got the knives out and you know the rest..." she said touching her back starting to tear up.
"And what about the bullet wound?" Severide asked, not wanting to know the answer.
"They wanted to make an example out of me, said that I was the trouble maker of the group. All I could think about was if I ever saw my family again I would never let them out of my sight." She paused. "And if I ever saw you again..." Gabby's lips moved slowly closer to Severide's and they made contact. It was slow and sweet. Unlike the first time they kissed, it wasn't filled with hunger, it was filled with love. Gabby was starting to fall in love with him. Kelly took in her seraphic smell and gently stroked her hair behind her ear.
Gabby slowly moved her hand up his thigh until she felt his zipper and started to undo it when Kelly stopped her.
"Are you sure you want this?" He said, staring cautiously into her deep mesmerising brown eyes.
"I almost died. I can't hold back anymore, life is too short." She replied before fully undoing his zipper and pulling his jeans off him.
Kelly slid his hands up Gabby's top and felt her shiver under his touch. After taking the rest of both their clothes off, Kelly layed Dawson on the bed and they made love.

The next morning in Sylvie's apartment Gabby woke up in the guest bedroom. She stretched her arms out only to find she wasn't alone in the bed. Next to her was a naked sleeping Kelly Severide. He looked so innocent and beautiful sleeping with a faint smile plastered on his face.
Remembering what happened the night before, Gabby started smiling too. The moment was ruined when she was reminded of the rules about dating your co-workers so she quietly got up and swiftly put her clothes on before heading to the door.
"Going somewhere?" A raspy voice called out from the bed.
Like a child caught for doing something bad, she sheepishly turned around with an embarrassed expression on her face.
"Yeah, um I was going for a run." Gabby lied.
"Or were you trying to avoid talking to me?" Kelly joked standing up fully naked giving Gabby a show.
"Look Kelly. Last night was great and all but you know the department doesn't like co-workers dating" Gabby sighed trying not to look at Kelly's bottom half.
"But you and Casey dated" Severide started grabbing his boxers and putting them on.
"Yeah but I don't want to be known as the girl who dated the whole fire department. First Mills then Casey and now you. Plus I don't want yours and Carey's friendship to be tense" before she could say anything else Severide grabbed her hands and held them to his chest so that Gabby could feel his fast heartbeat.
"Do you feel that? That's how you make me feel every time I'm near you or if I even just hear your name. I didn't think i could ever love someone as much ch as this and I want to make this work. It doesn't matter what every one thinks or says"
"What did you just say?" Gabby said desperately.
"It doesn't matter what people think?" Kelly replied nervously.
"No, before that" Gabby said hesitantly. "You...you love me?"
There was a moment of silence before Severide replied.
"Of course I do, who couldn't love you? You make me smile so much and you make me want to be a better person. I missed you so much while you were away and if I had to name all the reasons why I love you I could go on all day." Kelly said romantically.
"That's a pretty good start" Gabby replied softly looking down on the floor with a small smile.
"Go out with me Friday night, I promise it will be a night to remember"
"Okay" Gabby accepted giving him a peck on the lips.
Kelly was right about it being a night to remember, however, not in a good way...
