"Okay, we've been driving for an hour, can you tell me where we're going?" Gabby said jokingly. Severide just smiled and said,
"We're almost there, i promise it'll be worth it"
A couple minutes later they were there, the marina. The sun had only just set so there was still a bit of daylight and wisps of Orange sun shine floating in the water. By the Dock was a huge boat with rose petals covering the entrance leading to the inside deck.
"Wow sev, it's gorgeous" Gabby stated awestruck.
"It was my dads boat, he gave it to me before he left. You're the first person to see it since." He said truthfully trying to impress gabby.
"Well I'm honoured" She smiled as she stepped inside the cabin. A table was set up thoughtfully with a bottle of red wine and a bouquet of roses featured in the centre. The lights were dimmed to create a romantic atmosphere which definitely seemed to be working.
Severide pulled out a chair for gabby to sit in and then started cooking the steak he spent ages picking out.
"And you cook too, how lucky am i" Gabby started with a sultry smirk.
"That's not even the half of it" Kelly flirted back. "How do you like your steak?" He asked.
"Medium rare please" She answered. "I never knew you could cook"
"Yeah well when you grow up with a dad who isn't around most of the time, you kinda have to learn a thing or two"
"How are you anyway, about your dad leaving again?" She asked earnestly.
"I'm used to it. It's nothing compared to what you've been through lately" There was a moment of silence before Kelly spoke again. "I'm sorry, i don't know why i brought that up, I'm so stupid" he blurted out.
"It's fine don't worry about it, it's all in the past" Gabby said trying to reassure him.
"Okay, steaks ready anyway" severide gave a small smile and dished out the food. They ate in a comfortable silence until they finished their food. "That was amazing" Gabby smiled at severide.
"There's something else i have planned" sev smirked.
He lead her outside and up to the top deck of the boat where a couple of men where waiting. One pulled out a violin while the other pulled out a microphone. They were wearing white suits and started playing some classical music. The man with the microphone started singing L. O. V. E by Nat king cole.
"Kelly severide are you asking me to dance with you?" Gabby joked heartily.
"Would you?" Kelly held his hand out for her and she took it.
"Of course i will"
They started dancing under the stars for about an hour or two before the band had to go home. They sat at the edge of the boat looking out at the sea in silence basking in the feeling of just being together.
" you were right, this was worth it" gabby Leaned her head on severides shoulder as he held her hand. Both of them felt like they could stay there forever.
