Ariana’s POV

I watched with an amused expression as Harry spit coffee all over the kitchen table. He sputtered and coughed for a few more seconds before gazing at me again.

“A baby?” he asked. “You do know that’s not possible….right?”

I rolled my eyes and plopped myself down on Harry’s lap.

“Of course I know that! There is a thing called adoption,” I reasoned.

“But why now? You’ve never mentioned kids before,” he said.

“Well, I was at the market yesterday and saw a woman with a new baby….something just clicked,” I explained.

He looked down for a minute, his forehead wrinkling with deep thoughts.

“Please,” I begged, my fingers burying in his curls.

He touched his forehead to mine and sighed before pressing his lips to mine.

“I’ll think about it,” he said after we separated.

“Yay! Love you!” I said excitedly before standing up and grabbing my jacket.

“Where are you going?” he called.

“Hunting!” I answered quickly before shutting the front door and taking off for the woods.

I caught a scent as soon as I burst through the trees and my feet flew towards the thumping heartbeat. A smile spread across my face as I inhaled the scent of pine needles and sap. As soon as I found the clearing where the heartbeat was coming from, I ducked behind a bush and looked around.

There was a one person tent with a small pile of firewood in front of it, the dying embers leaving a trail of smoke behind them. After a few minutes, the zipper to the tent started to open and I took my opportunity. As soon as the figure stepped out, I flew forward and pinned it to a nearby tree.

I nearly cried with happiness. “Louis?!”

He didn’t look much different. Of course, him now being in his 50’s, he did look more aged. There are more wrinkles around his eyes and a few gray hairs, but he looks like the Louis I knew.

“Oh, Sorry!” I apologized while releasing him and taking a step back.

He looked torn between hugging me and staking me.

“Ariana,” he nodded. “You look…..good.”

My mood fell slightly at his cold tone.

“So, uh, what are you doing here? In Paris?” I asked hesitantly.

He ran a hand through his feathery hair. “I come up here once in a while for some alone time. Mostly to clear my head.”

“And your life? How’s it been?” I asked.

“It’s been good. I got married about 28 years ago,” he said.

“Really? To who?” I asked.

“Jack,” he blushed.

My mind reeled; Louis’ gay?

“I’m happy for you,” I breathed. “Any kids?”

“Yeah. We have a daughter named Lily and a son named Michael. They’re both out of collage now and setting up their lives,” he said. “What about you?”

I smiled at him before launching into details about my life after becoming a vampire and my travels with Harry. He cringed when I brought up why I was out here.

“Louis, could I have your number? I would love to hang out again,” I begged.

He looked torn for a minute before taking my phone and entering his number in. I hugged him tightly.

“Louis, I think you can help me with something.”
