All the students were buzzing about this new rich kid that apparently was transferring from a fancy private school to here.
This confused Peter, if you had the chance to study in an elite school why come to some boring dumb high school that no ones heard of. Once the kid walked into his classroom the class erupted with comments such as "he's so hot" and "he must really be rich."
The kid had dark brown hair and forest green eyes, his face was angular and tough looking and stood up straight with a lot of confidence. When he smiled Peter saw pearls for teeth, he really did look like a poster boy for Harvard.
The kid spoke and his voice was smooth and was about as perfect as his features.
"Hello my name is Harry and I look forward to going to school with all of you."
With that Harry sat down, in the seat next to Peter. The teacher spoke to Peter and he perked his head up as he listened.
"Peter if you would share your notes with Mr. Osborne I would really appreciate it."
"Ok."
Peter grabbed his notebook out of his bag and handed it to Harry.
"Sorry if it's messy, if you don't know what a word is you can just ask."
Harry smiled.
"Peter, right? Thank you, you seem very nice."
Peter smiled back.
"Oh, thanks."
The class went on and once the bell rang Peter went on to his next class. As he was walking he felt someone tap his shoulder and expected the usual visitor.
"What Wade-"
To Peter's surprise it was Harry who tapped his shoulder.
"Oh, hey Harry."
"Hello Peter, sorry to bother you. Could you help me find my next class?"
"Yeah, of course."
Peter took his schedule and started walking him across the school. Harry started up a conversation.
"Do you enjoy coming here?"
"Kind of, some of the kids are mean but it's a decent school."
"What kinds of things are you interested in?"
"Me? Space, robotics, photography."
"Photography? Do you take pictures?"
"With my phone, it'd be better if I had a camera but the good ones are way too expensive. What about you?"
"I don't really know."
Harry thought for a moment and pursed his lips.
"I've never really had any hobbies."
Peter found this odd.
"Why is that?"
"My father is very...persistent about me focusing on my schoolwork, he says everything else is just a distraction."
"I see, how come your going to this school then. Wasn't your old school better?"
"Yes, but I want to live life like a normal teenager and eventually I persuaded him."
Peter stopped in front of the class.
"Well, its great to have you Harry. I hope you enjoy normal teenage life."
"I hope I do too, see you later Peter."
The two waved and went their separate ways. Peter went to class and did as he normally did and once he end of school rolled around he sighed in relief and made his way out of school. As he did so he saw Harry go to his fancy sleek black limo. The young boy saw Peter and waved for him to come over. Peter complied and walked over.
"Hey."
"Hello Peter, want a ride home?"
"Oh no, it's fine."
"It's no trouble really, I want to repay you for being so kind."
"Ummm...alright."
With that Peter got into the limo and they all drove off. The car was quiet, the passengers listened to the radio as a news caster spoke about a murder.
"The murdering by gunshot of a young woman happened just this morning. The attacker was said to be her husband, many neighbors reflected on how his behavior had drastically changed over the months. Many say he had simply reached his limit and finally snapped."
Harry sneered.
"Disgusting, men like that don't deserve to rot in jail. They should just be given the injection."
Peter made a face.
"Isn't that a bit harsh, I mean it's no excuse for murder but their could have been multiple factors that made him snap. He could just be mentally ill and need therapy. I think we should figure out why he killed his wife."
"There's no reason to figure out why, he killed another human being. He chose his fate when he pulled the trigger."
Peter furrowed his brows as he thought. The rest of the ride to his apartment was quiet and once Peter got out he waved goodbye and went up to aunt May.
"I have a question."
Aunt May paused her show and turned her full attention to the boy.
"Yes?"
"If someone killed another person do you believe they deserve the death punishment no matter the circumstances. Even if it was accidental or they were unwell?"
Aunt May giggled a bit.
"What brought this on?"
"There was this news report saying that this husband killed his wife and the neighbors say that something happened to him and he snapped."
Aunt May thought before answering.
"I think that someone has already taken a life, unless they've repeated the offense there's no need to take another. Let the man pay for his crimes in prison and hopefully come out a better person than before."
Peter nodded.
"Thanks aunt May."
Aunt May smiled and kissed Peter on the head.
"Are you staying for supper?"
"Yeah, I'll be up in my room."
"Ok sweetie."
With that Peter walked up to his room and sat on his bed still think about the previous conversation.
