In the following weeks Kelly learned much about her family. Sofi was a month behind her in her own pregnancy. The leader was of course Bobby with Jeremiah surprisingly being second. No matter what came at them it was better to stay out of the way of the Mercer men. Above all she learned her family is.... weird.

"That's the last of Angel and Sofi's things. His move was way quicker." Bobby said as he stared at Jeremiah.

"Oh, c'mon man you still upset about my move. This was something the family decided." Jeremiah pointed out but Bobby wasn't hearing it. He still stared the man down.

"At least everyone is closer." Sofi said as she came out of the new house with juice. She was right though. Everyone was closer. Jeremiah had bought the house directly across from the Mercer home and Angel bought one two houses down from Jeremiah. The houses needed fixing but would serve the family well.

"And you can't complain because the shops will be opening soon." Angel reminded Bobby. From the life insurance Elenore had left enough for everyone to get a starting point. An insurance that had paid off late but would get them the new beginning they all desperately needed after so much loss.

Angel was opening a Auto shop. Jeremiah was getting back his construction company. Sofi and Camille were opening a restaurant and Bobby choose a bar. Kelly heard the whispers whenever she went into town. They said the Mercer's were on a road to destroying them all. The town included. Kelly however saw a revolution.

"Whatever!" Bobby gritted out. They all went inside for family dinner.

Two months later.....

Between work and fixing up the houses the ladies hardly ever saw the men. The restaurant became a real bang surprising the town folk. Camille and Sofi mixed everything up. There were Hispanic foods and traditional soul food.  Even Kelly had throw in a hand by teaching the girls the ingredients to real Italian recipes that she had grown up with from her grandmother.

Also Sofi and Kelly continued to get slightly bigger. Actually Sofi was bigger than Kelly because she was having twin boys but Kelly was getting worried. Finally she broached it with her doctor...

"In normal first case pregnancy your size would not been an issue. Most women don't become that big until their last few months however from your test results I'm going to have to advise you to limit the time that you are on your feet." Dr. Adela Samson said as she looked at the chart.

Dr. Samson figured a girl like Kelly probably didn't want a baby anyway and was forcing herself into a extreme predicament until the girl questioned her size. Dr. Samson did not come from the town she was brought along by her husband. According to her husband she was better off not getting involved with the Mercer family, but she had seen this girl around them and she couldn't turn away one of the first patients she had received. In fact because Kelly became her patient others had begun to open up and give her chance. Yet the girl was a Mercer, right? She was looking at the last name which was not listed at Mercer.

"And why in the hell would that be?" A rough voice demanded from behind them. Both Kelly and Dr. Samson looked up to see Bobby Mercer standing in the door way.  He closed the door with a snip  and leaned against it blocking the exit.

"You can't be in here." Dr. Samson said in a panic.

"Why not?" Bobby demanded.

"Patient privacy. Only someone that the patient has allowed to come in can be in this room." Dr. Samson tried to be rational with the man. However Bobby simply looked over at Kelly. Dr. Samson looked over at a glaring Kelly.

"You're late." She said.

Dr. Samson felt the panic spread in her heart  at the girls words.

"Shipment was late. So I'm late. Everyone is busy." He lifted one shoulder and walked over to them sitting in a chair next to Kelly. "Now tell me why my niece will need protecting by having her mother sit down all the damn time." Bobby again demanded.

"Niece?" Dr. Samson ask although she was beginning to figure it out.

Bobby pointed to Kelly. "The kid's father was my brother Jack. So this child is my niece and she will see the light of day. And you...." Bobby threaten her. "You will make sure that happens."

Kelly shook her head at Bobby. Her family is weird. She laid back on the table as Dr. Samson gathered her wits and managed to explain what kind of situation Kelly and the baby were in.
