Kelly was in a bad situation. Only a week ago Sofi had given birth to twin boys. Healthy boys...however Kelly who due nearly a month before Sofi was still very pregnant and Dr. Samson was refusing to do anything about her condition.

"Man fuck this." Angel said pacing the Mercer living room. "Bobby take her ass to the hospital. Before our niece dies." Angel demanded.

This was the reason for the big meet up. They could take her to a hospital but not to one in town. For some reason Fourth Hospital was listening to Dr. Samson so without her consent no one was willing to induce her. Their only other option was to go to a hospital outside of town. And that would take more than an hour.

"Bobby..." Jeremiah called to his brother. The roughest of them but still the leader of this family...."Let's just go." He said.

They drove as quickly and safely possible.

Kelly was in the room by herself waiting for the doctor. No matter how they had argued the doctor would only let family in. Kelly had never felt so worried and scared in her life. Dr. Reynolds finally walked in. He was a small man just a few inches above five and half feet. His eyes were small and slanted. The color was a cool brown that matched his tanned skin lovingly. He looked so clear and calm that he took some of the nervous edge from within her. Until he spoke....

"We will have to do a C-Section on you however looking over test results there is a risk......" He spoke rationally but Kelly's world tilted.

"Risk during a C-section?" She asked as she had never heard the words. C-Sections were supposed to be safe.

"This child....has been in the womb too long. There is a risk that even should we bring the child out she will not live. And the her position could risk your own life....." Dr. Reynolds but Kelly was already understanding. If it came down to it they would only be able to save one.

"Save my child...." Kelly demanded.

"Ms. Clark...." Dr. Reynolds tried to speak. To convince her otherwise.

"You save my child!" Kelly stated with a fierce look on her face.

Dr. Reynolds sighed and then opened the folder that he had brought with him. "Considering your decision these are documents for guardianship and will. You must fill out all the information on who you want your child to be cared by. Otherwise the state will accept the child until family can be found." Dr. Reynolds specified the content and reasons simply for he had witnessed her entrance. Not one man seemed as if they were a cousin or brother.

Kelly nodded her head but she was already filling out the paperwork. So Dr. Reynolds left her be and advised the nurse to have the work properly witnessed and completed so that it would be legal.

Kelly knew who she would leave her daughter to.

Dear  Bobby,

If your reading this I didn't make it. Yeah I knew this could happen. Hope you'll never have to read this letter.

If you did end up reading this letter....don't forgive me. I will still choose for her to live.

Bobby in these last few months you all made me realize what family is supposed to be like.

And I want my daughter to have that. So take care of her. Raise her better than anyone else in the world. Protect her with all of your strength.

P. S. Her name is Jacquelyn Bobbi Mercer.

Kelly handed the letters to the nurse who signed on as a witness. Their legal department notarized the document and then Kelly was sent to surgery. As Kelly was put under all of her most happiest memories flashed in her mind. In the corner of her eyes she even thought she saw Jack. He was watching over her... just waiting.

Dr. Reynolds heaved with a heavy heart. This news was always the worst.

"Here is a copy of will doctor, she left the child to a Bobby Mercer." Katie the standby nurse said as he came out. Dr. Reynolds removed his mask and cleaned his hands. He dried them off and took the paperwork from her hands. He walked out of the doors to the usual worried faces of strangers but family to the patient.

Three very different men looked back at him. He cleared his throat. "Mr. Bobby Mercer..." He asked. The white man stepped forth. He was more bulky and muscle than the other two. He was also slightly shorter.

"How are they?" Bobby asked the doctor.

"The child is in critical condition and will have to be watched over for the next eight weeks." He reported and watched the weight fall over their shoulders. "Ms. Clark...." Dr. Reynolds continued.

"We didn't see her come out....is she okay?" Angel asked.

"My condolences... Ms. Clark did not survive the surgery." Dr. Reynolds tried to keep the emotion out of his voice but he felt their pain.

Jeremiah grabbed the doctor and went to punch him. "What da fuck do you mean?" He screamed pain flaring in his heart even as Bobby and Angel grabbed him before he did something stupid.

The security guard reacted stepping forth to stop the attack however Dr. Reynolds waved him away. "I had informed Ms. Clark of this happening before surgery. She told me that if it came down to it I was to save her child." Dr. Reynolds handed the letters to Bobby. "These letters will explain everything....she left guardianship of her child to you Mr. Mercer." Dr. Reynolds waited until he had read the letters and then he watched once more as this family crumbled at the news. Sometimes destiny just sucked.

Over the next eight weeks Dr. Reynolds ran into the Mercer family more than he would have liked to. On occasion he would hear what was going on. He heard that they buried Kelly Clark by Jack Mercer the father of her child. He heard the child was named Jacquelyn Bobbi Mercer per the mother's final request. He heard that Bobby  Mercer went through a hell amount of issues to get not only guardianship of the child but also adoption. Even with the paperwork from the hospital.

On the last day he watched at a distance as the full Mercer family took J.B. Mercer home.

Maybe life would be a good different for her. For throughout it all Dr. Reynolds understood that not a ounce of blood was shared between any of them however he could see  the child was loved anyway.
