Chapter 1 The Streets of Raccoon City

Claire lunged at the zombie driving the knife deep into its neck. She pulls it out, the dark crimson blood dripping on the asphalt street. A tin coated bullet flew by her face and into the infected corpse behind her. She looks behind her, then looks forward at the shaggy headed cop. "Duck." He muttered, cocking his handgun. Claire ducked down. She felt the air pressure of the three bullets that propelled through the air above her. She stood back up, sheathing her knife in her chest holster. "Thanks." She said winking to the man. "No problem." He said holding out his hand. Claire shook his hand. "Claire Redfield." She said in a rather loud voice. "Leon S. Kennedy." "It's not safe out here." He said motioning to his cop car. "We can head to the city hall, it should be safer there." Claire brushed a few strands of her red hair out of her eyes and then followed Leon to the car. He opened the door from the inside and she stepped in, laying back in the cool leather seats. "There is a handgun in the glovebox." He inserts the keys into the ignition, and turned over the engine. Claire flips open the glovebox and pulls out the handgun. She checked the magazine and then loaded a bullet into the chamber. "So what are you expecting to find at the City Hall?" She said to the man raising an eyebrow. "Nothing, it would just make sense for it to be safer there, more security." "It would make more sense to go to the police department for more security. And that where I need to go anyway, to find my brother Chris." She stated. "Okay..." Leon said sort of angrily. He turned on the street quickly, the tires screeching. "So is your brother a cop?"

"No, he is a member of S.T.A.R.S, and I came here to find him. "Really, a special task unit." "You know this is my fir-" Claire cut him off as she saw the muzzle flash off from a roof top. "Stop!" She boomed. But it was too late. A fifty caliber bullet flew through the front right tire and the car, flipped over twice. That was all Claire remembered before she blacked out.
