Tyler bounced down the stairs a grin on his face, it was his first day of middle school after all. It was intimidating, new school, new people, new teachers, new everything, but he was also very excited to finally get away from his old school. People weren’t always the nicest there, mostly the teachers, they never really liked him for some reason. His dad worked at a bar, maybe that's why. Maybe they thought he was an alcoholic, Tyler knew he wasn’t and that’s all that mattered.

Tyler slid into the kitchen on his socks greeting his mother with a hug around the waist. “Hey sweetie. There’s some eggs and toast on the table for you.”

“Thanks Mom”

Tyler ran into the dining room and slid into his chair, across from his dad. His dad looked up from his food as he saw his son shoveling down his food like something from a cartoon. “Chew.” Tyler stopped eating and looked up, a fork full of eggs halfway to his mouth, “What?” Crumbs flew from Tyler’s full mouth and onto the table. “Chew your food. You’re eating like Scooby-Doo and Shaggy.” His dad gave a small laugh and went back to his own food, trusting his son to listen. Tyler chewed and swallowed before adding another bite of eggs and toast into his mouth. Tyler finished his toast and downed his milk before hugging his dad and racing upstairs to get ready for the day.

When Tyler entered his room an outfit was laid on his bed, a plaid button up and blue jeans with a white tie to contrast. The clothes were soon off of the bed and on his skinny body. A knock was heard at the door and Tyler opened it to see his father smiling down at him. “You ready to go stir fry?” Creases filled Tyler's face as he laughed at the nickname he had his whole life, his mom didn't like it but both he and his dad thought it was funny. “Yeah I just gotta grab my backpack and put my shoes on!” Tyler turned around and grabbed his backpack from his Star Wars bed. Then, turning around once more, Tyler practically flew down the stairs, only stopping at the door to put on his shoes. “SEE YOU LATER MOM!” Tyler's dad walked over to him and gave him a hug. “Dad I don't want to walk! Can you drive it on the way to work!” His dad sighed and walked out of the house and towards the family car.

Tyler grinned and hopped into the backseat, fidgeting with his ring finger, nervous what other kids would think of him. His foot started anxiously tapping the floor and tears started brimming in his eyes. The car pulled to a stop at the school and his dad turned around, quickly seeing the tears in his son's eyes he gave an empathetic smile, “You'll be ok, stir fry. I felt the same way my first day of middle school but don't worry, I'll go with you.” A smile spread across Tyler’s features and he hugged his dad before running from the car.

All eyes turned to Tyler as he entered the classroom, slightly late from his miniature break down in the car. “Hello, I'm Mr. Ross.” Jaw dropping. The only way to describe Mr. Ross because that is literally what happened to Tyler. “Hello? Young man are you okay?” Tyler was scared out of his trance as Mr. Ross waved a hand in front of his face. “Yes sir (voice crack) I'm fine. Just lots of stares. Nervous kid.” A few snickers left the kids in the room as his voice cracked. Mr. Ross raised an eyebrow suspiciously, “You don't seem like a quiet kid.”

“Oh, well, first impressions usually aren't correct, sir.”

“Does he like calling him 'sir’?”

The room broke out in laughter and Tyler blushed a deep red, “Excuse me, Mr. Brendon Urie, just because you're jealous does not mean you get to insult other students.” 'Oo’s were let out across the room and the boy, known as Brendon Urie, shrank in his chair. “Now, as I was saying. What's your name, hun?” The smile Tyler previously had been wearing returned as he heard the pet name. “Joseph, Tyler Joseph, sir.”
