Diamond sat, patiently waiting. Her husband had no idea where she was, and she wanted it to stay that way until she'd gotten through with her sudden moment of madness. It was gnawing at her, and she could only hope that it would work out.

It was chilly outside as Greer arrived at the location she'd received from Diamond. It was two in the morning, and she hadn't thought twice when the text came through with her presence being requested.

If anything, she was more nervous about seeing Luis again.

Just as she stepped out of the car, a luxury sedan pulled up. Luis Babineaux stepped out of the vehicle, exuding power as he always had. She sucked in a sharp breath, still surprised at the hold the man had on her.

She may have worked things out with her husband, and she may love him dearly, but there will always be something about Luis that Hamish just doesn't have.

Luis laid eyes on the love of his life and he felt all the emotions rushing through him at the sight of her slight blush. He wanted to believe that she was blushing at the sight of him after so many years, but he knew that it was probably just the cold weather.

"Greer," he said softly as he stood before her.

"She said to meet her here. I don't know why, especially given the time, but I don't care. I already care about her," she said sternly.

He frowned. "You don't even know if she's ours or not."

"I do not care Luis. She's been through a lot," she said.

"What does that mean?" he questioned.

"We should probably find her," she instead suggested.

"Greer," he said, stopping her from leaving.

She grabbed her hand from his. "I'm not doing this with you Luis. This isn't about us."

He could only sigh as he watched her walk away. If there's one thing he regrets in his life, it's not fighting for her, simply because no woman has ever matched up to her. He'd tried and failed miserably to move on.

He followed after her, anxious about their reason for being there. When she'd called him to say that she may have found their daughter, he dropped everything to come and see for himself, only to arrive and have her tell him that he needed to be patient as they'd had a DNA test done.

He could only guess that the results of the test had come back.

His anxiety grew when they spotted a young woman in the distance. From Greer's reaction, he figured that the young woman was possibly his daughter, and for a second time that night, the emotions rushed through him, almost overwhelming him.

Unlike Greer, who had Hamish's comfort at the time, he's had no one. No one knows the pain that he's been through over the years. The pain comes in the form of losing both his daughter and Greer, from losing his family's respect, and for feeling like a failure.

Even if his track record would show otherwise.

To the world, Luis Babineaux is a respected businessman and politician in France, having boosted the Babineaux name even more than the recognition that it had. He'd done a lot for his family over the years, despite their broken relations.

Notwithstanding the moments when he didn't feel like being a Babineaux to begin with.

Diamond looked up to see the two people approaching her. She could see the apprehension on Greer's face, but it was the familiarity of angst that she was noting in the man's eyes that she was focused on.
