"Mama, why do you have to leave again?" A little boy asked his mother on her way out the door. "I have to work Son, I will be back later tonight." She smiled on her way out the door

Long days, cold nights. Hard times, harder hearts. She couldn't even pay her rent. Her son didn't know any better or anyone else. Everyone knew but one one cared.

She had a heart of gold and simply wanted better for her baby, even if it meant disappointing him. It was worth it to her though, even if it hurt. She knew it was worth it to see that big smile every day she got to see him.

"Mama! Mama!?" The boy wiped crimson liquid off of his mother in the ally near home. "why won't you answer me?" He shouted at the top of his lungs as a man pulled him off of the body. "I'm sorry boy... shes gone" The officer took him away from all the boy knew.. and loved.
