The territory was quiet, good for her duties. She liked Leaf-bare, but preferred New-leaf the best. She was happy to be doing apprentice duties, to take a break from hunting and running.
"Tumble, would you stop following me around? You were assigned for a hunting patrol— go do that!" Opal groaned, looking at the tom.
He hissed, "I'm not going on the patrol until you come with! I'll be lonely, and plus, you're literally the only cat I know here."
The grey she-cat sighed, "You have to get used to this. You'll never make it into the Clan if you don't do your duties!"
The tabby would grumble, lumbering off. Opal muttered something under her breath, then padded over to a nearby tree to collect more moss.
All of the sudden would a creature leap onto her, it's claws shredding into her fur. She hissed, finally getting a small glimpse of the cat as they fought in a fluffy cloud.
She managed to escape their grip, kicking the cat off of her belly. She would then notice that the cat had a familiar pelt— a dark ginger tabby. "Wren..?" Opal frowned.
"You little— Opal? Is that seriously you?" The ginger tom padded a step closer. The grey she-cat sniffed him, his fur definitely familiar, the same old musky smell of the farm.
They embraced, a frenzy of purrs as they cleaned off their wounds. "I didn't expect you to be here! Are you a Clan cat?" Wren asked.
"Yes, however, I'm only in 'trial'. What about you?" Opal asked, her gaze resting on his strong, bold face. "Well, I'm still a lone rogue, living on the same old farm. However, I thought that I'd explore."
The two begun to talk, exchanging moments from the past happily. Wren's ear would flick to the right, as well as Opal's, as the sound of many pawsteps approached.
"Fox-dung! Tumble is in a patrol nearby. They are coming this way!" Opal hissed, "We ought to hide!"
Wren nodded, seeming a little anxious. "Go roll in that smelly stuff! I did that earlier— it hides your scent," Wren huffed as he leapt up a tall tree.
Opal reluctantly obeyed, running into the patch of strange smelling flowers, then bolting up the tree just as the patrol arrived.
"Did you hear that?"
"Tumble, it was probably just a squirrel. We're here to do the border patrol."The light grey she-cat would look down at the patrol. The group had Tumble, Mistyslip, and Applepaw in it, leaving only a few warriors at camp to protect. Very secure, Opal thought sarcastically to herself.
After the cats had sprayed and marked their territory by the monument, they disappeared to the actual borderline."Whew, that was close...," Wren sighed in relief, stretching for a moment, then leaping back down. Opal leapt down as well, wrinkling her nose is disgust of her fur's scent.
"Bah, that was a disgusting idea, Wren! They probably wouldn't of scented us, anyhow," Opal spat, attempting to wash out the fragrance in a nearby puddle.
"Oh well. I should go— catch you around?" Wren asked. "Catch you around," Opal sighed as the ginger tabby tom disappeared.
