I quickly drain the last drops of my coffee, as I scour through my room looking for my damn car keys. Oh I'm going to be so late. "Dani!" I yell frantically. Where the hell have I put them? With a sigh I reluctantly look down at my watch, as it reveals how late I actually am. Taking three deep calming breaths as I close my eyes to collect my thoughts, think Alex, think! Opening them I'm presented with a smug looking Danielle Montgomery, "Having trouble, Alex?" she starts. Oh I can't be dealing with this right now, but her expression relaxes as she seems to sense my bad mood. "My keys," I begin before she holds up her hand stopping me. "They're on the kitchen table where you left them." I dart past her, out of my room grabbing them on the way out, "Thanks Dani, love ya!" I shout just before I close the front door of the apartment we share.
Luckily the London traffic is surprisingly quiet and so I manage to make up some of the time I lost this morning. I park my car in the student car park. Okay, so I'm only ten minutes late, that's not as bad as I thought. I look up into the mirror and involuntary sigh in exasperation, staring back at the tired looking hazel eyes looking at me. As I step out of my car my phone beeps, alerting me of a message, 'Where the hell are you? Are you okay?' I shake my head at the unnecessary concern from my friend Matt. I hurry up to the lecture theatre, knowing it has already started so when I reach to open the door I brace myself. As I open the door my bag catches on the handle, forcing me to fall back, drawing everyone's eyes directly towards me. I feel the heat flood my cheeks as I quickly slide in to one of the vacant seats at the back. "Miss Hart," my professor begins "so you finally decided to grace us with your presence." Not knowing what to do I offer a small apologetic smile in response and he turns away shaking his head.
Unpacking my note pad from my poor worn out bag, I notice that the attention is no longer on me and for this I am grateful. I sit, intensively, taking notes as my professor talks about global media but as it goes on my attention is stolen by my own mind as it drifts of into a daydream. “Ahem.” a small cough brings back my attention. And that's when I hear them. The murmur's and flirty giggling travelling through the female students, "I hear he looks so much hotter in person." and "I can't believe we are going to be in the same room as him." what is going on? Looking up I see Professor Thomas trying to settle everyone. Oh no! Now I remember why today was so important, we have that guest speaker today, Mr Donovan I think his name is? The room instantly silences as the door opens, is that him? Oh my... he takes steady paced, graceful strides into the room and I feel my lower jaw begin to drop. Get a grip, Hart. I drag myself from my awed like state and straighten my back, needing to gain control of myself again.
