Song- How Does A Moment Last Forever by Celine Dion

Your POV

December 6, 2024

"Where is Y/N L/N?" A nurse ran out to the waiting area.

"I am right here." I stood and she walked with me back to the hallway. "How is Joanne?" I questioned after the woman who had so kindly taken me in under her loving friendship.

Adam's wife had become one of my dearest friends over these heart breaking four months. While Adam was away, we would meet for coffee twice a week and dinner at least three times a month.

I had grown to love Adam in these short five months. As much as I did not want to admit it, I was in love with a married man. A man who was loyal to his wife to a fault. He admitted to me  that he loved me, while we were doing press overseas for one of his movies, but afterwards told me he could never do something like this to Joanne.

I agreed and simply faded into the seams of his fame. I quit travelling with him for months on end and started dating. I was never happy, never pleased. Always hungry for something.

Now fresh out of a terrible breakup, I got the news that Joanne was dying. I rushed to the hospital as quickly as I could.

"She is not going to make it." The nurse ducked her head. "She is in there." She motioned into the hospital room.

I thanked her and opened the door. "Hey Jo." I slipped in. Adam was hunched in a ball in the chair next to his wife's gurney.

"Y/N." She brightened. Adam snored peacefully. "I am letting him sleep. He has been up for a long time." She brushed her hand over his hair. Her slim hands were hooked up to IVs and her pale face was connected to breathing tubes.

"Oh Jo, does it hurt?" I knelt by her side. My blonde hair fanned out around me as I set my purse down. I grasped her thin hand in my own.

"No." She smiled. "It doesn't."

Adam woke. "Jojo?" He whimpered as he reached for her hand. He brought it to his lips and kissed it.

"Yes?" She turned her head towards her husband. "Look who is here hun." She motioned to me.

I nodded and he plead with me through his eyes to not speak. I did not.

"Hello." He said. Joanne smiled.

"You two are terrible at keeping secrets you do know that right?" She leaned back.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I know you love eachother." She smiled. "Y/N give me your hand." I placed mine in hers. "Adam." She took his. She laced our hands together. "You two deserve each other. You can give him something I never could." She smiled at me again as a tear rolled down my cheek. "Give him a baby. Give him a life I could never dream of giving him. And what ever you do don't you ever let anyone tell you you don't belong together." She kissed my hand and placed it in Adam's. "I love you both." She settled back and closed her eyes.

Her heart beat stopped.

"NO!" I screamed.

Adam quickly rounded the bed and gathered my weeping figure into his arms.

"It's going to be okay." He whispered while he cradled me and we wept together.
