I look down at my feet with burning cheeks, "oh uh.... sorry."

He laughs with a big smile, "no worries I enjoy the criticism." Marissa looks at him and then back at me with a confused look plastered on to her dumb face.

"Oh my god, what did you say Tyler ?"

I can feel my face get hot, "um I told him how I didn't want to be here and how lame it was." I look up and I can feel her face shift into an awkward smirk.

"Nice one."

The other boy looks at her and back to me and smiles, "oh no don't worry I could always use some criticism, it was nice to talk to you Tyler." He gives a little wave and walks away red solo cup in one hand and Tyler's heart in the other.
"I can't believe you, Ty, out of all th-" she stops when she looks at my face, "oh my god! You like him you totally do." I feel my feet shift inward and I slide down the wall.

" Yeah sure okay he's cute but I just insulted his fucking party." I look around and see a drunk girl lazily slip her arm across the boy's shoulders, what was his name again? Oh it was Derek, Derek Levitts. He helps her to a couch and walks away looking kind of lost.
"Hello? Did you hear anything I just said?"
I look up at her, "no sorry."
"Mhm well, I said I heard from a girl in my calculus class he was bi so if you're interested you should do something."

I shrug my shoulder at her, "I'm not exactly boyfriend material, I look like a dirty sock and probably smell like one too. Besides I just met him we've talked once and the whole time I was insulting his party." I sigh, he was cute though. Maybe I should give it a try. I shake my head and come back to reality,

"So like I guess she was kinda cool but she didn't really seem that into me ya know?" Marissa looks at me for an answer only to see I wasn't listening again. "God Ty what's your deal I'm not even that drunk and you still can't stand me." She kinda chuckles but she knows I'm in a mood. Marissa had been my best friend for a long time and it worked out because she like girls and I liked boys so we never had any awkward moments like in those corny films where they fall in love in the end. I come out of my head as Marissa shakes me.

"Tyler, hello? Anyone home?"
"Yes yes, what?"
"Let's get going I'm fucking starving."
"Alright, let's go."
I tap my front pocket then my back ones, my hoodie pocket and even look on the ground but no keys.
"Fuck."
"Oh no, what is it?"
"Help me find my keys I think I left them somewhere."
"Damn it, Ty."

We search all over the house and finally I find them in the kitchen right as I go to grab them Derek steps into the line of vision.
"Hi uh, Tyler right?"

"That would be me."

"So if you don't mind me asking what is it about my party that's so lame?" He chuckles so I know he's kidding but I'm still scared shitless.

"Oh I swear I didn't mean it rudely I was kidding I'm sorry we're not leaving because of that I'm so s-" he cuts me off by pushing me against the counter his hands on either side of my torso palm down on the counter like he's trying to lock me down. I can feel my pulse quicken and I look up into his eyes.
"Are you sure you wanna leave? I mean you don't have to." I didn't notice until now my hands are rested on his chest and I kinda loved it. I gulp back my anxiety and try to think.

"I, I um need to take Marissa home, sorry." It's barely a whisper as he moves one of his hands from the counter to the small of my back, he was tall and he towered over me by a lot.

"Alright well if you can't stay maybe we could do something together that's less lame?"  His face is close now I can feel his cool breath, I find myself leaning towards him ever so slightly. He suddenly pulls away and leaves me feeling colder.

"You wanna give me your number or what?" He smirks like he knows what he did and it makes me want more.

"Um yeah, do you have your phone?"
He pulls it out of his back and hands it to me, I type in my number and leave the name blank.

"Here you go."

"Thanks, I'll see you later." I give a small wave and walk away trying to hide my excitement. Truth be told I didn't think his party was so lame after all.
