Monday afternoon was rolling around. You had the whole day to mentally prepare yourself. You knew you could do this, you had to! You were sitting at your desk up front before class started. You were looking around the classroom but to be honest, you were just trying to casually look at the twins and find differences.
Your eyes widened when they both made eye contact with you. You got nervous and turned away fast, blushing because you were flustered. Instead of casually looking, you ended up starring at them. You kept trying to find differences all day listening to their voices and paying attention to their hair part. You thought you had the answer but you kept doubting yourself.
You kept muttering all the possiblites, "I'm sure that Hikaru parted his hair to the right and his voice is a bit smoother? So that means Kaoru is the other. But how do I know they don't switch the way they part their hair during the day? What happens if I'm wrong? What if they stayed completely the same? What if....."Your thoughts were interrupted when you saw two figures standing in front of you. Class still didn't start yet but your classmates started to pour in. It was them, the twins. You wondered what they wanted. You looked up at them from your desk,"Yes?"
"Meet us at the outside hallway near the fountain, after class." They said together.
All you thought to yourself was,"Oh god, that's where they reject girls. So unsettling."
"...Okay." was all you managed to get out as a response.
They went back to their seats and class started.Instead of focusing in class all you did was strategize about guessing the right twin. You needed them to not speak together. As soon as they spoke individually that's how you would know. You needed to listen and listen good. Kaoru and Hikaru would probably trick you. You knew their little game. You didn't watch and wait for a whole year to turn back now. With this sudden confidence you were ready. Once you told them apart it would be like a whole new world. You would get to tell their true colors.
Before you knew it, class was over. You were the last to leave, meaning the twins were waiting on you. You made your way to the meeting place.
There they were sitting at the fountain. You stood before them like you were on trial. Your nerves started up again. "Here we go" you thought."[Y/N]..."
That was Kaoru! No mistaking it! You were taken aback by him calling your name. You liked the way it sounded coming from him. It caused you to blush a bit. It was the first time your name was called by eithier of them.
That was besides the point.
"Focus!" You told yourself. You knew it was him. Although, his hair was parted to the right when you could have sworn it was parted left. They switched while waiting for you.In unison they said, "Which one is Hikaru?"
You smirked and pointed to Hikaru. He was on the left of Kaoru. You were sure because of the sound of Kaoru's voice saying your name. You saw his lips utter your name. It was clear and you were closer in distance so you weren't mistaken, you couldn't be."You're Hikaru!" You said in confidence.
It quickly got shot down by Hikaru "You're wrong."
He lied. You knew this because that's what they did with every girl who tried to confess their love. You were happy that you could see through their trick but at the same time they treated it as if you were another girl trying to confess your love. That wasn't your goal. Unlike the others who failed before you, you stuck to what you thought and what you thought was correct. You wanted to be friends! You weren't going to let that chance go to waste."What kind of person--" they started their diss, only to be cut off by you.
Your voice was stern and serious, "No. I'm not. I'm not wrong. I know you're lying Hikaru. I know how it works."The boys looked at each other confused. Then Kaoru spoke up, "How?"
"It's hard to explain. I can just tell." You smirked. You couldn't let them know how you knew, just yet."Yes! I did it!" You exclaimed in your head.
