Chapter Four: Ruins

Note: I've decided to have my soul still be purple but with a little bit of red since I'm Frisk in this au and Niks is well Chara in this au but more nicer then Chara. I know I said I'm only going to do soundtrack for boss battles and I will I just want you to hear this cool soundtrack remix.

Toriel continued to walk to the white stairs and walked up them and waited for Tierney at the top. Tierney spotted a golden star floating in the middle of the room surrounded with pink leaves. "What's that Niks?" Tierney asked, pointing at the golden star. Niks looked to where Tierney is pointing and shrugged. "Not sure." Niks replied. Tierney and Niks walked to the star. "Try touching it?" Niks suggested. Tierney nodded and reached her hand out and touched the star and it glowed when she touched it. "The shadow of the ruins loam above, filling you with perseverance/determination." A voice said. Tierney quickly took her arm back in shock and the star stopped glowing. "That was weird." Tierney said. "Yeah, wonder what that was about?" Niks asked. "Not sure either, but we should keep following Toriel." Tierney said. "Right." Niks said. Tierney and Niks walked up the stairs that Toriel went up earlier. Toriel then went into the next room and Tierney followed. Toriel stood in front of a purple door and Tierney stood at the entrance they just came from. "Welcome to your new home little one." Toriel said. "Home?" Tierney mumbled to herself. "Allow me to educate you in the operation of the ruins." Toriel explained. Tierney nodded and watched Toriel walk over the pressure plates then walked over to the switch and flicked it and the door opened. "The ruins are full of puzzles, ancient fusions between diversions and doorkeys. One must solve them to get from room to room. Please adjust yourself to the site of them. There are alot of puzzles in the underground." Toriel said and walked into the next room. Tierney noticed a sign and walked up to read it. "Weird I can't read this." Tierney said. "That's because it's in monster language only monsters can read it." Niks explained. "Oh so does that mean you can't read it either?" Tierney asked. "No I can mo- I mean Toriel taught me." Niks said. "Cool! Can you read me the signs then?" Tierney asked. "Sure." Niks replied.  "Thank you!" Tierney said. "Your welcome so the sign says, Only the fearless may proceed, brave one foolish ones. Both not walk the middle road." Niks read. "What does that mean?" Tierney asked. Niks shrugged and went into the next room and Tierney followed. Toriel saw a white cloth around Tierney's forehead. "Oh child, are you hurt?" Toriel asked, a bit worried. "Oh yeah I almost forgot about that. But yes I am hurt Toriel." Tierney said.  "May I look at it?" Toriel asked. Tierney shyly nodded, she usually doesn't let anyone see her injures not even her friends but Tierney felt like she could let one person see it. Toriel smiled and knelt down to Tierney's level and untied the cloth around her forehead and gasped when she saw how bad it is. Toriel put her hand over Tierney's forehead but Tierney backed up scared. "Don't be afraid my child I was just going to heal you." Toriel explained. Tierney stayed silent and stayed where she is but Niks knew Tierney had to get healed so she floated behind Tierney and pushed her gently to make her stand back in front of Toriel. "Don't worry, she won't hurt you. She just wants to help." Niks whispered. "May I heal you my child?" Toriel asked. Tierney just nodded as Toriel put her hand back up to Tierney's forehead. Then a green aura surrounded Toriel's hand and Tierney's forehead. it took a few minutes but the bleeding stopped and the injure is gone. "There good as new!" Toriel said with a smile. Tierney smiled back then put her hand to where she was bleeding before and it really was gone. Tierney quickly hugged Toriel which she hugged back. "Thank you mom!" Tierney said happily. Tierney then realized she called Toriel her mom and pushed back from the hug to cover her mouth. Toriel giggled a bit. "You are welcome my child and you may call me mom if you wish." Toriel said. Tierney removed her hands from her mouth. "R-Really?" Tierney asked. Toriel nodded. "Really." Toriel said as she stood up. "Now let us continue." Toriel said. "Okay." Tierney said. "In order to make progress here you will need to flip several switches. Do not worry I have labeled the the ones that you need to flip." Toriel said. Tierney looked behind her and saw a switch and saw it labeled. "Like that one?" Tierney asked as she pointed behind Toriel. Toriel looked behind her and giggled. "Yes that one." Toriel said. Toriel walked out of the way and Tierney walked to the switch and saw words next to it. "Please press this switch -Toriel." Niks read. "As if it was labeled enough." Tierney said. Niks giggled as Tierney pressed the switch. Toriel then walked to the end of the room. Tierney and Niks followed and saw two more switches but only one is labeled. Tierney walked over the left switch which is labeled and saw more writing. "Please press this switch to -Toriel." Niks read. "Again really?" Tierney asked. Niks just shrugged and Tierney pressed the switch. "Splendid! I am proud of you little one! Let us go into the next room." Toriel said. Tierney, Niks and Toriel all went into the next room.

-Time Skip- (this time skip is going to be skipped all the way to the last room you are with Toriel before she leaves you)

"You have done excellently thus far my child, however I have a difficult request for you." Toriel said. "What's the request?" Tierney asked. "I would like to the end of the room by yourself. I am very sorry." Toriel said. Before Tierney had the chance to speak Toriel was already gone. "Wow she's fast." Tierney said. "Yeah mo-Toriel can be pretty quick when she wants to be." Niks said. "Why do you keep interrupting yourself?" Tierney asked. "What do you mean." Niks replied. "Well everytime you almost say mom you interrupt yourself and say Toriel instead. Why is that? She is your mom to isn't she?" Tierney asked. "Yes she is but she's not anymore because I'm dead and because she's your mom now, not mine." Niks said. "But that doesn't mean anything Niks! She's still your mom and now my mom to! Which I guess makes us sisters, that's cool right?" Tierney said. "I suppose your right." Niks said. "Of course I'm right!" Tierney said. "We should get going." Niks said. "Oh right." Tierney said. Tierney and Niks started walking down the hallway which took ten minutes to get to the end and Tierney sat down. "Finally! We made it the end!" Tierney said. Niks giggled a bit and Toriel came from behind the pillar that is at the end of the room. "Greeting my child. Do not worry I did not leave you. I was merely behind this pillar the whole time. Thank you for trusting me." Toriel said. "Of course mom." Tierney said. "However there is a important reason for this exercise. To test your independence. I must attend to some business for a while. Please stay here. It is dangerous to explore by yourself. I have an idea, I will give you this cellphone. If you have a need for anything just call. Be good Alright?" Toriel asked as she handed Tierney the cellphone. "Sure." Tierney said. Toriel smiled and walked out of the room. "Let's look at the phone." Niks suggested and sat next to Tierney. "Okay!" Tierney said excitedly. Tierney and Niks looked at the phone. The phone is purple and it looked like a flip phone. Tierney flipped open the phone excepting there to be numbers and stuff a normal phone would have but instead the phone was completely different then a normal flip phone. Instead of numbers to dial a person's phone number there are monster's faces instead. One button is Toriel's face, one is a spider's face and the others are blank. Tierney pressed Toriel's button and several options came up. The options are say hello, about yourself, tell her you love her, flirt and a back button. "Why is flirt even an option?" Tierney asked a bit werided out by that. Niks just shrugged. Tierney ignored the flirt option and pressed hello. The phone started to dial and Tierney pressed the speaker so Niks could hear it. "Hello this is Toriel." Toriel answered. "Hi mom it's me. I um just wanted to say hello." Tierney said. "Well then Hello! I hope that suffices. Hee hee." Toriel said. Toriel hang up the phone and the options came back. Tierney then pressed the know more about you button. The phone started to ring again and Toriel answered. "Hello, this is Toriel." Toriel said. "Can I know more about you mom?" Tierney asked. "Well I'm afraid there isn't much to say. I'm just a silly old lady who worries to much." Toriel said as she hung up the phone. Tierney put the phone into her inventory and walked out of the room which the phone rang as soon as Tierney walked into the next room. Tierney took the phone back out of her inventory and answered. "Hello?" Tierney said. "Hello my child, it is me Toriel. Did you happen to leave the room? There are puzzles up ahead I have not explained yet and is dangerous." Toriel said. "Oh um uh n-no I didn't leave." Tierney said. "Oh well alright be good my child." Toriel said and hanged up the phone. Tierney sighed in relief. "Good she didn't know I was lying." Tierney said. "But isn't it bad to lie?" Niks asked. "It is but I really want to explore, plus it would take forever to wait for mom." Tierney said. "I suppose your right." Niks said. Tierney saw a room to her left and walked inside and saw a pillar in the middle of the room with a bowl of candy on it. Tierney and Niks walked up to the pillar. Niks saw a small note on the bowl of candy. "Only take one." Niks read. "Pfft, I'm going to take a couple." Tierney said. Tierney took two pieces of candy. "What kind of candy is this?" Tierney asked. "It's monster candy and trust me it's really good." Niks said. "Okay I trust you." Tierney said as she put the monster candy into her inventory. Niks and Tierney walked out of the room and saw another golden star. Tierney walked up to it and touched it and the star glowed once again. "Playfully crinkling in the leaves fills you with perseverance/determination." The same voice from before echoed. Tierney and Niks went through every room, solved every puzzle eventually and spared every monster that fought them. Tierney has died a couple of times but with the small bit of determination in her soul kept saving her and bringing her back to the save points. At this rate Tierney figured out the golden stars were save points like in the video games she plays except that this is real life. Tierney finally got to the room with the three rocks in it. Before Tierney can get farther into the room her phone ran and she picked it up. "Hello, this is Toriel do you like Butterscotch or Cinnamon?" Toriel asked. "Butterscotch." Tierney said. "Ah I see thank you for your preference." Toriel said before hanging up. Tierney put the phone away and completed the puzzle.
