FRIENDLY GESTURES

✧✧✧

JORDAN WAS SAT ON HER DESK CHAIR, rapidly writing away on her computer. She was currently writing an email to her boss, explaining to her why she needed the photo's as soon as possible, preferable today.  She was the photo editor for a lifestyle magazine and knowing what she did at night, she wanted to have her work prepared incase something went wrong. Sandra, her boss, knew this, aside from the fact that Jordan was considered a hero in their city.

Also, if she got the photos today, she didn't have to go to work tomorrow since she had the equipment she needed at home. She had worked there long enough to have the privilege to do the work at home, even though her boss preferred it being done in the building.

After she sent the mail, she got up and went to the break room, making herself some tea. "Rough night?" She twirled and found the voice belonged to no other then her co-worker, Jason Oneal. "I had a movie night with Zazie and it got late." Lies. She returned to her tea, putting some milk  and honey in it. "Please tell me you didn't watch Prisoners again.  I know you've already seen it a hundred times, I feel like I should be worried." Jordan threw a glare his way, already walking towards her desk. "No, not that it concerns you, but we watched Bones." Another lie. Jason muttered something under his breath about how that was worse but Jordan didn't pay attention to him.

Since Jordan couldn't tell everyone what she did when she wasn't at work or sleeping, she had to lie. A lot. But at this point it didn't bother her as much as it did before. She was used to it, the lying. The woman knew she had to lie if she wanted to keep people she cared about safe. People like Jason, Sandra, her family. Though they didn't really count since they did know her secret, but that's not the point.

Jordan continued with her work, doing the usual like sending emails and editing photos. She occasionally took a sip of her tea, very focused on what she was doing. "Here are the photos you asked for, Ms. Slatter." A male voice said, interrupting her writing. She glanced up to find out who it was but realized she had no idea. "I'm Andrew Ealy, Ms. Bowen's new assistant. She told me to give them to you." Andrew explained when he understood she didn't know who he was. "Oh, okay. Thank you and tell Sandra I'll go home now. My shift is over." She took the wrapping with the photos in it and grabbed her coat and bag, leaving the building for the day.

Jordan made her way into her apartment building, sprinting up the stairs. Just when she was about to get her keys from her handbag, a door was thrown open behind her. "Jordan! Just the person I needed. Get in here!" Zazie exclaimed, dragging Jordan into her apartment and shutting the door behind them.

"Hello to you too." She uttered. She took off her shoes, knowing whatever Zazie wanted will take a while. "I need you to clean my apartment." Jordan stopped what she was doing and stared at Zazie. "Excuse me?" She said, a little bit offended. "I'm not your damn maid, do it yourself. You're the one living here."

Zazie pleadingly stared at her best friend, before talking again. "I have a date tonight and I don't want her to think I'm a pig. And you can do your thing while I leave to get some food for tonight. Please!" She literally begged her, getting on her knees and started to repeat the word "Please" until Jordan agreed. "Fine! Just... Stop doing that, it's weird."

The smile Zazie gave Jordan was enough to make her forget she was offended and helped her friend up. "You're still a pig though."

Jordan was now left alone in Zazie's apartment, and started her work right away. Couldn't really call it work since all she had to do was imagine how she wanted the place to look and then it would soon enough look like it. That's something Jordan learned recently, before she had to think of an object before it would start moving but now she's able to have a picture in her head and the magic would work on it's own somehow.

It's not like she could imagine a new TV in the room and it would appear, more like just her organizing it in her head and then the cleaning happened for real. Though she could only do this in places where it was quiet, still and calm. If she got distracted, her mind would lose focus.

She watched as all the clean laundry flew into the wardrobe and smiled proudly. Call her lazy, but why not take advantage of it when it didn't hurt anyone? She made her way to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator, thinking of what she wanted. She grabbed a bottle of Coke and filled it in a glass. Coca Cola is the meaning of life, I swear. Jordan was pretty much addicted to the drink and drank at least one glass a day. Some people may call her unhealthy but so was going out almost every night, tracking down bad guys to fight. She kind of deserved being unhealthy at times.

When Jordan was done with her drink and cleaning, she left the apartment and traipsed to her own. Finally being able to change from her work outfit, she sprinted towards her bedroom and put on some cozy clothes. She threw herself on the couch and turned the TV on, searching for something good to watch.

Just as she was about to fall asleep, someone knocked on her door and she softly groaned, not too happy about having to get up. "Who is it?" She waited for a reply and a female voice was heard from the other side of the door. "Zazie, and I'm alone!" Jordan opened the door from the couch and she heard Zazie closing it behind her.

"I just wanted to say thank you for cleaning the apartment and I also wanted to give you this." She held out a bag with groceries in it and Jordan sheepishly smiled and grabbed the bag. "Thank you" she mumbled, putting stuff in the refrigerator and freezer. "I figured you didn't have the time to do shopping and I don't want you to starve just yet. I'll probably need you in the future to clean my apartment again."

Jordan decided to ignore that last statement Zazie said and just replied with, "That's very nice of you, thank you Zazie."

authors note

First chapter out! I hope you like it! I have a couple of things to say before y'all read the next chapter and that's 1) Diana will not be introduced until chapter 3 or something. I want you to get to know Jordan and her friends. 2) If you didn't catch it, Zazie knows about Jordan and her past. 3) This chapter was kind of boring but I just wanted to kind of summarize her life a little.

I really hope you liked it and please let me know if you find an error or something so I can correct it, just be nice about it.
