THE SPACE EMINENCE

Chapter Two

"Papa where's Dad Gart?" Asked Clem. They on their way to the airport to pick up Arie. Cane found his daughter sleeping on his friend's lap.

Cane was more than surprise to see how Clem was so comfortable with the man to even asleep with his presence.

Clem was unusually guarded herself with strangers. He does not know why his daughter behaves that way but he just let it slide, it's for her safety anyway.

"Who is Dad Gart?" The only Dad he knew was Clem's favorite Cartoon character Dad Perry.

"Your friend, Dad Gart. He is like Dad Perry so I called him Dad Gart."

So that was his name, Gart. He cannot say that Gart is really not a friend. He's identity was a top secret. Even his senior above Cane does not even know his name. He was just called G-5H, a code commonly use in military as what his colleague told him.

He was amazed by his daughter to actually get his name... If that was his real name.

Gart or known as G-5H helped him with some research. He was amazed on how advance they are in term of technology even medicine. He help them breakthrough in communication, medicine, machines etc. It can be said that the country is in debt with the man.

"You like him?" Cane asked. Clem takes time to even be comfortable with someone. He is surprise to think that Clem instantly like G-5H even before the meeting.

"Yes. He is handsome just like you and Dad Perry" Cane doesn't know what's the definition of handsome for his daughter. All she called handsome are old people. He never heard his daughter call any man or boy her age handsome.

With Samuel a trusted military officer who guarded their family led them to the airport to meet Clem's mother Arie, Clem and Cane walked hand in hand.

Clem was excited to be reunited with her mother. It's been a week since they saw each other. Both of her parents are scientist in Science and technology in the country. Her mom had some conferences and speeches in different areas of the world. A well-known researcher to speak before the crowd and inspire young scientist and researchers to achieve more for their country.

Due to hectic schedule of her parents Clem was a home schooled. With her mom on her side and with level of her intelligence she does not need to enroll in a normal school.

The couple wanted their child to be in a normal school but they also want to be with her. In the end with her parent's busy schedule Clem was basically raised in a laboratory with mad scientists around.

At the airport arrival station Clem could not hide her excitement. When a familiar figure draw in she immediately shouted...

"Mama!"

But that happiness, excitement and joy did not live long. Who would have thought that a must anticipated encounter would turn into great tragedy.

"BOOM!"

"BOOM"

"BOOM"

Consecutive huge explosions can be heard in the whole area. Smoke and falling objects are everywhere.

"Papa where's Mama? Get her immediately!" Cane was holding his child securely.

"Samuel, bring Clem out of her safely. I'll look for Arie. Quick! Before this thing turn worst."

Cane turn to his daughter.

"Clem be good, I'll look your mom. For now Uncle Sam will be your guardian" Cane then turn his eyes to Samuel.

"Whatever happens please take good care of my Princess"

"Yes Sir!" Sam as a member of military saluted to Cane.

Cane was in service for more than 10 years to Cartin family. Cane was almost his older brother and was very close to each other.

Cane took a test tube size bottle from his pocket and handed it to Clem. It contains a strange substance of a liquid.

"Take this Clem. Make sure no one take it away from you. Keep it properly. You must return it safely to its owner." He kissed Clem in the forehead and disappears from the thick smoke.

"Come Clem, your father has some military knowledge he will survive for sure. Your mom will be okay. We must be out of here quickly"

Samuel immediately turns to emergency exit where many ambulances were waiting. He contacted one of his subordinates to watch after Clem and some are helping victims.

Samuel returns to site of explosion and look for Arie and Cane. The whole place was now burning in flame. All he could do is to rely on the firemen and pray that the two of them is safe.

But no matter how he looks, he could not find even one of the Cartin couple. He doesn't have any option but to hopelessly walk to the area where the casualties are placed. There laid covered with black cloth the burned bodies of men.

He checked one by one praying that none of the couple was among them.

At the last row, there laid two bodies holding hands with a ring that was familiar with Samuel.

What made Samuel suspicious is that, the fire was so hard to terminate. Even water was not enough. Like the fire has its ability to avoid water.

"This is not a simple terrorist attract. This must be connected to those people." Samuel muttered silently. He swept a glance to Clem.

"I'm sorry Clem, I'm too late"

"Uncle Sam?"

"Listen princess. If you wanted to know who did this you must become strong. If you wanted to know who did this you must be qualified to know them. That is the only way"
