Cassie:
Staying for dinner with the Whitlock's wasn't so bad especially when you've got the hot older brother there, the embarrassing but hilarious dad there along with the sweet and gorgeous mother and if you throw Avery into the mix then we have the perfect mixture since he stirs the whole thing up all together but in a good way.
I am currently worrying about my second day of spending time with Avery since yesterday wasn't so bad. I have now come to the conclusion that he is going to build on getting to know me to make it easier to break my heart. Little does he know that I'm tough as nails and he simply won't be able to break my heart, him on the other hand well I'm just going to have to find out if he's a softie at heart aren't I?
"Sorry I'm late I was in detention" I sighed before climbing onto the back of Avery's motorbike
"You had detention?"
"I was supervising, I'm trusted enough to supervise"
"Of course you were and here's me thinking I've got myself a secret badass"
"You wish!" I said slapping his arm playfully
"You know Cassie I didn't think you'd agree to hang out with me. What made you change your mind?" Avery asked shocking me
"We should really get to your house, I can't be late going home tonight" I said trying to ignore his question and it was true I couldn't be home late or my father would not be very happy!
Avery didn't ask any questions instead he just nodded his head and began the engine of his bike taking us to his fancy house. Instead of going into his bedroom we sat in the living room watching some black and white film where the sound of a gunshot was the peak of the film.
"Averyyy I'm bored" I whined
Seriously what girl wanted to watch a country western? Not me that's for sure.
"Now I know not to take you to go see a Western" Avery laughed
"Oh so that's what you're doing?"
"Maybe but out of curiosity what kind of films do you like?"
"Horror" I said without thought
"Really? Are you lying"
"No I really do like horror films since they are usually made so badly that they aren't even scary"
"I'm going to make you watch a scary film that will scary you so much you'll be using me as a shield to protect you" Avery smirked
"I don't think so pretty boy" I said slapping his face gently before retrieving my school bag
"What are you doing Cassie?"
"Getting my homework"
"Come on Cassie you know all this stuff enough that you could rush it in the morning. You go into school an hour early anyways!"
"How the hell do you know that?" I asked shocked
"Soccer practice, I see you sometimes"
"I thought you didn't even know of my existence" I admitted
"Of course I know who you are, you're the most naturally beautiful girl in that damn a school" Avery said and it felt like he was staring straight into my soul. I didn't believe what he said but I could see that he sincerely meant it.
"Yeah, right" I laughed bitterly
"You are,seriously, Cassie"
"You know I don't get it...why after years of going to the same school you have only started speaking to me now" I had to avoid the fact that I knew his little secret and how he planned to use me.
"Because you are intriguing Cassie no girl like you has ever sparked my interest as much as you have. Plus they've never met my parents"
"Oh so I'm different because I've met your parents?" I asked with a slight laugh
"You're different because you are the only girl I've ever came across who isn't interested in me and even though this is only the second day we've been hanging out I can actually talk to you. So as long as you're not interested I can at least have you as a friend and maybe someday a girlfriend"
His words made my stomach flip, if the situation was different it would have been in a good way but it was I'm a bad way my stomach was flipping. I wish I could believe him but I knew how he was using me and maybe he did want to get to know me better or he actually did enjoy talking to me. I just found it hard to see the truth in what he was saying because in a couple of months I would be old news to him and he wants me to be left heart broken. You could say I'm just as bad as him though because I want to leave him heart broken because of every girls life he was ruined he deserves the same if not worse.
"Cassie come on we're making dinner"
"I can't cook that great though" I admitted sheepishly
"But I can, so I shall show you now come on Cassie" Avery said getting up off of the couch and into the kitchen
"Where's your parents?"
"At work and my brother who you were ogling over should be in his room" Avery said rolling his eyes
"You clearly didn't get your genes off of him" I teased
"Ahh excuse me Miss Keaton I am quite aware of my hotness, I mean look at this" Avery said while lifting up his t-shirt and showing me his very hot abs. Ugh. Avery and his greek god like looks, seriously this wasn't helping me when I was supposed to make him fall in love with me. "And now it's me you're ogling over" he smirked.
I looked around the kitchen and had a lightbulb moment when I spotted a carton of orange juice open on the counter in the kitchen. I grabbed it quickly and stood on my tip toes pouring it over Avery's head.
"Girls don't like big egos" I whispered in his ear before walking away with a smirk plastered on my face
I let out a sharp squeal when cold liquid rushed down my back. I spun round to see the grin on Avery's face, I then noticed his two hands behind his back and his eyebrows raised in amusement. I grabbed his arms pulling them forward but this only resulted in him cracking eggs over my head.
"Oh it's on" I laughed as I rummaged through the fridge grabbing whatever I could to throw at him.
"Seriously Cassie that's ketchup!" Avery whined like a little girl making me squeal with laughter "You won't be laughing when I get flour in your hair" He said as the smile made its way back onto his face.
He fired the flour all over me as I laughed making it go in my mouth so I began choking a little.
"You okay?" Avery asked running the water and handing me a glass of water. I nodded and gulped the water before getting another glass and pouring it over Avery. I grabbed the bag of flour and poured it over him whilst also cracking an egg on his head.
"Okay Cassie I think we're even now" he said with a huge smile on his face
"We should clean up"
"Yeah and then we can cook"
"What are we cooking then?"
"Hmm I don't know what's your favorite meal?"
"Can't choose"
"Okay then how about a Stir fry then"
"Yeah sure so that means I can chop vegetables right?" I asked excitedly
"Yes Cassie you can chop vegetables but right now we can put everything away" Avery said amusedly
We cleaned up the mess we had made fairly quickly just shoving things messily into the cupboards or in the fridge where the things belonged. Avery was in the process of cutting the chicken while I chopped the vegetables quickly and carelessly.
"Cassie be careful" Avery said watching me intently
"I'll be fine" I laughed as he shook his head with a smirk. While I was laughing it was clear to say I spoke to soon, the first thing I noticed was Avery rushing to my side gently guiding me towards the sink to run my finger in the cold water.
"Careless Cassie" Avery laughed as he walked out of the kitchen returning a few minutes later with a first aid kit.
"I don't need a first aid kit for a tiny cut which isn't even that deep"
"No it's not that deep that's why I'm going to give you stitches" Avery said rolling his eyes, I could sense the sarcasm dripping off his tongue, the cut was kind of deep.
"You what?"
"Come on Cassie it won't be that bad" Avery laughed
"When you get injured I'm going to laugh" I pouted
"It isn't that serious though!"
"Exactly I don't need stitches" I grinned but then grimaced as the pain started shooting through my finger
"I promise it will only hurt a little bit" Avery said before taking care of my finger.
I was a little embarrassed to say the least, I was cutting vegetables for god sake and I end of cutting myself. I had ended up sitting on a stool while Avery continued to cook.
"We're home" Mrs Whitlock said as she entered the kitchen laughing as she took in our appearances "Food fight?"
"Oh shoot, I forgot. Cassie do you want to go upstairs and get showered we'll wash your clothes and dry them for you" Avery offered with a smile
"Sure"
"What are you kids up to apart from a food fight?" his mom asked
"We were cooking but Cassie here was a little careless and had an accident" Avery laughed grabbing my wrist and holding up the hand were I cut my finger
His mom just laughed offering to take over cooking the rest of the dinner while Avery and I got cleaned up. Entering Avery's room made me feel like he trusted me enough to let me inside his dark blue room and the double bed in the middle of the room. The room was quite plain with a desk and a bookshelf,a wardrobe and a few guitars on stands at the back of the room.
"While you're busy observing my room I'm going to find some clothes for you to wear while your own dry"
"Thanks" I said as he handed me a t-shirt and a pair of grey sweatpants and two towels
"Girls use two towels don't they one for their hair too?" he asked and I laughed while nodding
Avery's clothes were a lot more comfortable than my own so I wasn't going to complain about wearing them since the sweatpants were definitely very very comfy. I made my way into the dinning room expecting Avery to be there but it was just his older brother sitting there.
"Hey Slade" I smiled
"Cassie, how are you?"
"I'm good. You?"
"I'm fine but seeing you has definitely brightened my day" he smiled
"Right back at you" I grinned at the same time Mrs Whitlock walked back into the room
"Sweetheart you can dry your hair if you want I gave my hair dryer to Avery for you"
"Thanks" I said before making my way into Avery's room again.
"You know Slade, Cassie isn't interested in you yeah she thinks you're hot but I see the way she looks at Cole she likes him" Avery said sounding almost sad
"No I don't like Cole" I said disgusted since Cole was like my brother "Sure Cole is extremely hot and everything but he's like family to me"
"Shit sorry Cassie I thought you were Slade"
"It's fine! Your mom said her hair dryer was up here"
"Yeah here it is" Avery said holding it up in his hand
I dried my hair as Avery went into the shower, my head was flipped over so my long hair was almost touching the ground as I swiftly dried my locks the sound of Avery coming out of the shower again made me jump causing me to hit myself on the head with the hair drier. I switched off the hair dryer and looked over at him, a white towel loosely around his hips letting me get a got look at his v-lines. His abs, chest, v-lines and everything about his hot body was intriguing but still not enough to make me one of those girls who Avery ruins.
"Like what you see?" Avery asked raising an eyebrow. I gulped as he smirked before walking towards me. He reached across me, his hot arms touching me slightly as he went into a drawer to retrieve something. I went to move but he grabbed me be the hips and pinned me on the bed.
"Have you ever been kissed before Cassie?" Avery whispered huskily staring into my eyes.
This question embarrassed me and made me so uncomfortable because what 17 year old had never been kissed before? Me! I was like a warning hazard, a danger zone no one wanted to be near me. It was like I was contaminated, they wouldn't even risk involvement with me.
"Don't be embarrassed, Cassie"
I shook my head "No" I whispered
"I can change that if you want" Avery whispered his lips almost touching my own. I almost lost my composure and gave in but a knock at Avery's bedroom door made him let go of me
"Kids your dinner is ready" his moms voice sounded.
I jumped off Avery's bed hurriedly making my way out of his room and downstairs into the dinning room. The whole dinner I avoided speaking to and making eye contact with Avery instead involving myself in the other members of his families conversations.
I jumped off Avery's bike thanking him for the ride home and made my way towards my house taking a deep breath getting ready for my life behind closed doors.
"Cassie wait" Avery called making me turn around "Listen Cassie I'm sorry I should have never tried to kiss you"
"Yeah you shouldn't have, my first kiss should be with someone special not someone who breaks hearts as a game"
"We are starting have a great friendship please don't let one stupid mistake ruin that"
"It's been two days, Avery"
"So what? That's two more days than we've ever had before as being friends. Please just give me a chance to show you who I really am and I promise you that you won't regret"
I looked him straight in the eyes, with me standing on the steps to my house and Avery standing to the side of his motorbike he could still stafe right into my soul and make me give into him. That seriosuly scared me that he had that affect on me after two days of getting to know him.
"Fine" I said before turning and opening the door to my house
Part of me didn't want to close the door after me because my teenage life ended here but even so I shut the door preparing for whatever was to come. I sprinted up the staurs and into my tiny attic room quickly changing out of my clothes and into my pajamas to pretend I had been here since I got home from school.
Hours passed as I sat alone in my room doing the homework I didn't get to do in Avery's house. I froze as I heard the front door open, even being in the attic room I could hear him. I lifted my school stuff off my bed and hid it under my bed so if he came in here he wouldn't touch any of it. I climbed into my bed pretending I was fast asleep something I've had to do for years now. I could hear loud footsteps thumping up the stairs making me jump but I tried to ignore him, I had to face the door otherwise when he'd come in he'd walk around to the otherside of my bed and then he'd ruin my books.
"Cassie" he slurred, his voice booming signalling that he was getting closer. I tried as much as I could to squeeze my eyes shut even more. "Cassie" my bedroom door was opened as he stumbled through my room.
"Cassie love why are you up here come and spend time with your father" he slurred.I didn't dare move still pretending to sleep.
"Come on Cassie you need to stop being so selfish, I need my dinner now" his voice was getting angrier. I wasn't going to move not yet anyways the longer I dragged this out the less I had to go through.
"Cassie you selfish little witch make me food now" he said shaking me
"What time is it?" I asked pretending to just wake up knowing what his answer would be
"Time you stopped being a selfish little bitch" he said before slapping my face hard
"Stand up you bitch"
I listened to him standing up ready for the next few hits I was going to get. His palm slapped my face a few more times before he rolled it into a fist and began punching me all over my body. A trick I had learned after years of abuse was to never let him, to let anyone see me cry. It was a sign of strength being able to hold it in in front of the ones who are hurting you so much you despise life. He pushed me causing me to fall onto the floor, as I tried to get back up he kicked me in the back every time I tried to get up so I gave up wincing as the pain surged through my body. He got bored and left a few minutes later but those few minutes felt like forever. When he left I let my body sink into my bedroom floor as I cried my eyes out once I composed myself I went to get ice for my new bruises tending to the damage my father caused.
