Avery:

I was a complete idiot yesterday almost kissing her when I was supposed to at least make her like me as a friend first. She seemed like a different girl outside of school when she was smiling and laughing with me as we had our little food fight. The way she stared at me when I was in only my towel made me almost lose my cool, every guy wanted a girl to look at them like that. I also wanted her to look at me like that when I said something she liked or made her laugh something to remind her that I was hers and she was mine. She wasn't mine though, not yet anyways.I drummed my fingers against my steering wheel letting out a sigh as Alex walked out of his house towards my car.

"No bike today Whitlock? Is there a special girl or something"

"Shut up Alex I'm getting information on something you want to know about"

"You find out more about her?"

"Yeah"

"I don't get why you're getting closer to her apart from for me it is just strange"

"Alex man I told you she's intriguing and not interested in me. Well I almost kissed her yesterday and she looked interested" I smirked as Alex punched my arm

"Don't even think about hurting her" he warned

"I don't intend to" I lied straight through my teeth feeling the guilt at the pit of my stomach

"So why do you have your car anyway?"

"Slade wanted my bike to show off to a girl"

"The truth please?" Alex asked with a laugh

"Cassie, I want to take her out for dinner after school"

"This is your third day getting to know her better you can't just take her out for dinner"

"It's not a date...It's just casual"

"What's her middle name?"

"I don't know"

"Her favorite colour?" Movie? Food? Day of the week?"

"I don't know but I do know her favorite type of movie is horror films"

"My point is you don't know her well enough yet to take her out for a casual dinner so once you drop me off at school drive back home and get your bike"

"If we went to the same school I'd have you killed man" I laughed driving towards Alex's school

"You'd stay out of trouble if I was at your school" he said with a smile

"Get the fuck out of my car" I laughed as I pulled up outside his school.

Alex was my best mate and had been since we were little kids, he brought out the good guy in me and helped me realise there was still a good guy in me. So naturally I followed his advice and drove back to my house for my motorcycle driving that to school. When I pulled into my usual spot, as I got off my bike I noticed Cassie making her way towards the school doors. She looked sad, not her usually self I had got to know in the past few days. Normally I would go straight to my group of friends but I couldn't stand seeing her sad so I ran straight over to her.

"Hey Cassie" I said smiling at her

Cassie's sad expression remained for a few seconds before she plastered a smile on to her innocent little face.

"Hi Avery" she smiled

"You okay?"

"I'm good. How are you?" she asked with a cute little smile

"Fine. Do you want to watch my soccer practice?" I asked hopefully

It has only been two days and I'm starting to want to get to know this girl even more but she was just supposed to be a bet.

"People can see me then. They'll know I'm talking to you" she said looking down

"Cassie don't worry about them worry about yourself."

"But Avery I like being invisible they don't know my name and I like it that way"

"But Cassie I want to get to know you, next week you can be invisible next week and I'll be invisible with you."

"Ugh fine but just because I get good food when I'm at your house" she said flashing me a smile

"Thank you. You will get to see sweaty guys" I winked grabbing her hand dragging her along with me, she let out a small laugh as I dragged her to the soccer field. She sat down on the bench at the side of the field as we warmed up and played the odd time clapping and cheering along for me.

"You're not half bad" she smiled warmly as I joined her again

"Thanks! You should come to our next game it's in two weeks" I suggested hopeful

"Sure"

"Hey Cassie do you want to meet my friends?" I asked

"Listen Avery I'm fine just knowing you, I don't need to meet your friends for them to hate me"

"I want you to meet them and they won't hate you. I swear, please at least spend your lunch with me instead of locked up in that library"

"Better than being at home" she muttered sadly

"Is everything okay?" I asked concerned

"Just peachy" she said finally smiling

"So you'll meet my friends"

"Okay but then we're going to meet my friends straight afterwards"

"Great, so come on" I grinned dragging her inside the school towards my locker

I ignored the stares people were giving Cassie and I, probably thinking what was someone like Cassie doing with someone like me and probably knowing the answer why. Cassie found it more difficult to ignore the stares though I could clearly see the frustration building in her as she stormed on past them all most likely unaware of their names.

I spotted Josh and Simon standing at my locker laughing with a group of girls. Once they saw me coming they left, I rolled my eyes as they glared at Cassie. Josh grinned at me obviously since Cassie was by my side, Simon nudged Josh as they gave each other knowing looks.

"Avery man who's the lovely lady?" Simon asked turning his charm on

"I'm Cassie" she said sweetly

"Simon! It's nice to meet you" he said grabbing her hand and kissing it. She blushed a little which was adorable but the redness in her cheeks died down when Josh moved on to introducing himself.

"I'm Josh, it's really nice to meet you Cassie. When this idiot breaks your heart you know where to find me" Josh winked

"When he breaks your heart you won't know where to find me because I'm not interested" she said rolling her eyes

"Cassie's going to sit with us at lunch" I said loosely placing my hand at the small of her back

"Cool, I'm going to find some girl to take to the party" Josh smirked

"Megan might want to go" Cassie said suddenly getting interested

"Are you going?" Josh asked her shocked

"Yeah"

"I'm taking her" I said proudly

"So this Megan girl when can I meet her?" Josh asked interested

"Now if you want" she suggested to which we all agreed.

Cassie's friends are completely like her, down to earth and extremely nice bar Jamie who hates the world and is ready to kill everyone apart from her friends. I do remember she was dating a guy called Marcus from my math class, they were going out for ages too but rumour has it that he is ill in some sort of way only his closest friends knowing meaning his girlfriend Jamie knew and that Megan,Cole and Cassie knew. I would try and find out from Cassie to show her I was interested in getting to know about her friends too.

I couldn't stop thinking of that moment when Cassie walked into the art room where most of her friends spend their time while she's in the library. When she walked in, their gloom expressions blossomed into smiles, they couldn't contain their happiness. See that's the thing about Cassie she can turn rain into sunshine. Seeing Cassie light up the room with her presence was like watching a thunderstorm turn into a heatwave. Three days of seeing that smile and it even made me smile, knowing I had to break her heart could also break my heart. Putting aside the fact she is extremely sassy and will talk back she is such a sweet, innocent girl.I'm such a prick for setting out to break her heart but now that I was in there was no way I was getting out of this.

"Man Megan is hot!" Josh had been going in about her since he met her this morning. She was just going to be another girl that he bangs and pretends she doesn't exist afterwards.I can't say anything though when I do the same thing, there is a group of girls in this school who would set out to kill me because I hurt them that badly.

"Yeah you've told me a million times" I said rolling my eyes as Simon flirted with a girl a few years below us

"I know but I think she's super hot, like different from the rest hot"

"Oh no man" I laughed sarcastically as Josh's eyebrows rose in confusion "I am already going to break one girls heart, you are not breaking her best friends heart too. That'll be two people out to kill us"

"How is the whole Cassie getting to know you thing going anyways?"

"Alright, I guess. We still don't really know much about each other apart from how to annoy each other"

"Hey that's better than nothing"

"Yeah, I plan to get to know her better today though. I still have the rest of the week plus next week and the week after I'm taking her on a date"

"How can you be so sure of yourself?"

"I have my ways! Who could deny me anyways" I said cockily

"Cassie could and Cassie would. Which is why we have given you until prom because even if you do go out on a date with her there isn't a chance in hell you'll be kissing her in three weeks!"

"Is that a challenge?" I asked cockily

"Kiss her by the end of this month and I'll give you fifty dollars"

"Deal" I grinned knowing I could get a kiss off her easily, I mean she almost gave in yesterday I could even try it today and she might accept. I was feeling overly confident today since she was being nice after what had happened betweens and also somthing was making her sad I just didn't know what.

"I am going I told Megan I'd take her out after school so catch you later" Josh said before turning away. I looked to see if Simon was still there but he must have left with the girl he was chatting up.

I walked to my bike to see Cassie already there looking bored out of her mind, I quietly walked towards her shoving her shoulders to scare her. It worked since she squealed grabbing onto me to make sure she didn't fall. It was only then I realised she never drove to school, did she even have a car?

"Cassie,do you drive?"

"No"

"Oh I was just wondering, how do you get to school then?"

"Walk everyday"

"Not anymore, I'm picking you up in the mornings" I said not waiting for an answer as I hopped on my bike.

Alex was going to flip when he found out in the morning that Cassie would be coming to school with me in the morning he would instantly know that something was up. This selfish part of me was enoying getting to know her though when it was really Alex who deserved to know her.

"I thought I told you to take your bike" Alex said rolling his eyes as he got in my car

"And I listened yesterday, three people cannot possibly fit on a two seater bike"

"Wait what do you mean?" Alex said freezing as he was about to click his seatbelt in

"Cassie isn't walking to school anymore" I said rolling my eyes as we went to pick Cassie up

"Dude my school is literally closer than wherever we're going" I ignored him as I pulled outside Cassie's house honking the horn, she scarmbled out of the house quickly in a pair if tight fitting jeans that nicely showed off her bottom and and she wore a long sleeved lacy top to match. She definitely looked hot,I couldn't deny I was staring.

"Jeez man you're staring" Alex said punching my arm.

"I can't help it. She's gorgeous" I said as I watched her lock her door. I got out of my car making my way towards her to help her with her bag.

"Morning" she said smiling brightly

"Hi" I grinned, I opened the door to the backseat of the car throwing her back pack on the seat "I would let you ride shotgun but this idiot is in the front seat so yeah sorry"

"It's fine" she smiled before kissing my cheek and climbing into the backseat

I stood there staring at her as she closed the door behind her,it took me a few minutes to gain my composure again. I climbed back into my car as Alex shot me annoyed look it wasn't my fault she kissed me,not that I was complaining. It just made me realise I will kis her on the lips properly eventually if not very soon.

"I'm Alex" Alex said to her shaking her hand and smiling I could tell he was nervous but Cassie definitely couldn't as she smiled and politely introduced herself.

"Cassie, it's nice to meet you" she smiled brightly at him

"You too" he grinned before turning round in his seat again

"Okay so now that we all know each other who wants to skip school?" I asked excitedly

"I would rather be educated thank you very much" Cassie said with a smile playing at her lips as I looked at her from the rear view mirror

"Yeah me too, you're on your own buddy" Alex said laughing at my expense

"When can I get some friends who enjoy the same things I do" I gutted

"When people allow themselves to be controlled by you" She said rolling her eyes sneakily, she didn't think I saw that but I did. Alex looked over at me with a questioning look but I just brushed them both off continuing me drive to Alex's school once I pulled up outside the school Alex got out and opened the back door of the car giving Cassie his hand to help her out.

"You can ride shotgun now, if he causes any trouble just let me know" Alex said handing her a piece of paper then something in his head clicked "As friends of course, I already have a girlfriend" he said smiling before walking into his school

"He seems nice" Cassie said as I made my way towards our school.

"He's easily my best friend, we've known each other forever" I said with a small smile

"That's nice, Megan, Jazmine and Becca are my best friends"

"Which one are you closer to currently?"

"Megan, Jaz is just a little down because of personal issues and she is closer to Becca than me" Cassie said sighing looking genuinely sad "Everything will be okay though I just know it" she said thinking positively

"Yeah, it will"

"What are we doing after school today?" Cassie asked playing with her hair. I could think of a lot of things to do after school but that would only result in Cassie hitting me.

"My place just chilling the usual"

"Next week will be a lot more interesting" Cassie said as we pulled up at school

I opened the door for Cassie and she smiled brightly at me looking around first before shyly kissing my cheek and walking off leaving me standing there. I closed the car door leaning against my car when I felt a slap on my back.

"I think you have this one in the bag" Josh said excitedly

"Of course I do" I grinned
