The day after was relatively pleasant as well. Yoongi had become a big part of my daily routine in such a short amount of time; I was relieved that we shared interests and he was legitimately nice to talk to. His light-hearted company meant that we could easily chat to one another and joke around as much as we wanted to. Thus, what I imagined would be a horrendously tedious school-life was in fact a content time in the hands of Yoongi and I's conversations.
As we both settled out some equipment, we collectively agreed that we should start thinking of song concepts, basic lyrics and beats. And just like that, we found ourselves in our own bubble of productivity. Time, before we knew it, was whisked away as our concentration was purely on the project at hand. I spent lunch time in the canteen, which I had yet to visit in the two days I had attended. Yoongi seemed to know the best places for food and which queues were the quickest. Once we had acquired our lunch, I followed him to a empty-ish part of the school where we ate together.
As we stuffed our faces with food, Yoongi began to speak.
"Y/n, I thought I should tell you that," He paused mid sentence. "There's a problem with gossiping at this school... and well because your hanging out with me I heard people spitting a bucket load of shit about you."
"I really couldn't care less about what people have to say about me." I huffed not wanting to think about the lies some misguided individuals could conjure up.
"It's my fault- not one person in this school likes me. Everyone thinks I'm some-kind of cynical asshole, which okay sometimes am..." He sighed in a soft voice attempting to explain himself to me. "But in reality throughout all the time I've come to this school, no one has ever really gotten to know me. Well anyway, I heard a few shitty lines referring to us both." He exhaled with worry. "I know they are completely utter bullshit but I just want to apologise for wrapping you up in my er well lonely ass life." He ended with a sorry filled smile.
"Hey, I don't want to worry about what others have to think and I definitely don't want you to. Who cares if we are the unpopular little shits in the corner? We can be secretly badass instead!" I consoled him, in my own special way.
A hearty laugh and confident nod was all I got in return. and to be honest, that's all the confirmation I needed to successfully accept that this is what the majority of my days would be now. Just me and Yoongi in our own little world.
When lunch had finished, we stumbled back to room 5 only to find a petite girl sauntering at the door way- seemingly waiting for someone. Once Yoongi had caught sight of her too, I saw him visibly tense next to me. My first thought was- this must be Yoongi's precious little crush, Mina. Mina is such cute name for her cute little face as well, he must really like her.
"Oh! You two, I was sent here by Miss Chokesondik to remind you to come to detention after-school." She bowed and made her exit, before I even got to say a small thankyou.
Yoongi's whole brain and body still remained on frozen mode until she was out of sight.
"Y/n, that wasn't in my imagination right?" He mumbled frantically. "Mina spoke to me-"
"She spoke to both us but whatever-" I interrupted trying to lure him back into reality.
"and she looked in my direction. Y/n, I been severely deprived of a social life for so long but here I am with a friend-you and Mina actually just acknowledged my existence. Wow." he blurted out.
"Woah, that was shameless." I chuckled at his weird confession. He laughed too and we both entered the room.
Not long after, a friendly face popped up from outside the window. I told Yoongi I wouldn't be long and I left the room.
"F/n, hey." I greeted my visitor cheerfully.
"So you and huh? Yoongi? Is everything going okay? I mean you really got the short straw on your project partner." F/n asked in a concerned tone.
"He's really-" I smiled and continued "He's really nice. I'm relieved I could make a friend."
Shooting a hesitant glance, as I suspect she has been exposed to the abundance of lies that people have created to circle Yoongi's personality.
"How's your project going?" I questioned out of harmless curiosity.
"Very well," She paused and winked comically "I'm a pair with Shinyoung from the basketball team."
"Oh Yoongi's in the basketball team." I contributed.
"But Shinyoung he's like an idol, maybe I'm just deprived of romance but I think-" F/n was interrupted by heavy footsteps narrowing closer to us. I could only determine that the tall guy who'd simply wandered over was in fact Shinyoung. I greeted him silently and smiled politely. I excused myself to return back to Yoongi shortly after.
Entering back in the room, I suspected that Yoongi would probably napping in his own little world; to my utter amazement he was working. Completely engrossed in producing music, he sat hunched over in his seat.
I admired his ethic and decided to join him. We worked just like that, focused on the work in front of us. Well, until it was time to attend detention.
With the thoughts about the lyrics I had just written still looming through my mind, we arrived at the detention room. We sat at the rear of the room and sat talking till we were unsurprisingly told to shut up. A prolonged silence later, both Yoongi and I walked as much as we could together back to our homes.
I settled down in some fluffy lounge clothes and messed with my phone. My eyes flew to a notification- a text, from Yoongi.
It read: 'Y/n Y/n Y/n after we said goodbye I saw Mina and she said she wanted to hang out. Am I goin insane rn? idek what to do with myself...'
I chuckled aloud and sent him a message of good luck.
