Chapter 7
I wore the dress...I wore the dress and now I'm running from the imperial guards with a strange man who've I've only known for about 5 mins, How did I get into this mess you may ask, well it all started about 3 yrs ago. I hadn’t left right after Mrs. Ambrose insisted I stay a few minutes longer. She walked out the room telling me to stay put, I had walked over to the window looking out onto the now brightly lit streets, the sun had long since set and a beautiful assortment of Pink, yellow, orange with hints of purple danced like fire decorating the sky. I watched the townspeople laugh, sing and dance around, many partook in the small morsels of savory delicacies. What fascinated me more wasn't the assortment of gowns or suits or food, no it was the dances it seemed that the townspeople did not only dance to it, it was if they were the music.
It wasn't long before Mrs. Ambrose returned holding a small silk pouch, placing it in my hands I opened it and realized it contained the ingredients to her famous tea, all grounded down o a fine powder that would later dissolve in the hot water. I thanked her and looked around to where I would carry it, she let out a light chuckle and motioned to the dress, lifting a small piece of fabric that was carefully disguised on the side of the skirt, it was a pocket. The took the pouch and placed it inside said pocket, with a pat on the head she walked me to the door and told me to go out and have fun, to be safe, watch out for strangers and stay out of trouble. These words so foreign to me, words I never once heard from anyone, not even my own mother. Felt nice, as I walked out the door I told her I would return to see her before I take off to earth again, she smiled kindly and nodded. As I made my way into the squad I thought of what I should bring her from earth, of course, I had never bought a present for anyone let alone received one, this dress was the first time anyone has ever given me anything. I felt in debt to her, maybe she would enjoy some new decor for the shop, or maybe some new fine china. I was to lost in this thought to notice that many of the villagers had gone still, it wasn't until the sound of the music stopped when I could hear the careful whispers of the townsfolk. Their hushed tones soon filled the night air, I felt the gaze if a thousand people, like a wild lion stalking its prey, or a man feeling the cold hard stares of its opponent at war.
It wasn't long before the stares subsided and everyone returned to their previous activities. Still, I couldn't shake the fact that even though I knew maybe a few people would still stop and stare, there was one piercing glare I felt in the back of my head, following me, watching my every move. It put me on edge, but it was soon forgotten when a pair of young girls pulled me into the dancing circle, I was new at this so I didn't know what I should do, I told them I didn't have much knowledge on this form of dance or any dance for that matter, they only smiled and took my hands showing me what to do. This carried on for hrs until I could no longer feel my feet, I thanked them for teaching men and decided to make my way to the fountain of fate.
Same as the last time I came to this fountain I was hesitant to look inside, fearing disappointment once more. Still, even with knowing I would not see my future, I closed my eyes and leaned forward but before I could open them and look inside I heard the breaking of branches and the low dark chuckle of a man, a drunk man. Quickly turning I watched as this man got closer and closer, pretty soon he was charging at me with full force. In my shock, I couldn't move or did I feel the impact of his weight on me when I was then hurled into the ground. The flashback of my youth soon resurfaced and I froze. The difference between then and now, no one would come and save me.
