A collection of white spots darted before Felix' eyes as he tried to regain his breath, a throbbing pain stabbing through his gut. His blood pulsed through his ears, hearing distant screams between every beat of his frantic heart. He was aware, mildly, of the fact that somebody was in pain- though every time he so much as leaned forward his rib cage shrieked out in agony. He was also aware of blood. A lot of it.
Is this mine?He exhaled, rasping, holding back the urge to cough in fear that it would hurt him further. He waited for the ringing in his ears to stop, for his heartbeat to calm itself and his vision to sharpen.
He blinked.
Felix felt hot tears roll down his cheeks as he wiggled his fingers below him, aware more acutely, now, of the noises around him. No, it wasn't his blood. At least not all of it.
All his emotion flew back to him at once.
He needed to move, before his head was sliced clean from his neck. Felix lifted a feeble hand, placing it down in front of him as an attempt to lever himself up. He could hear yells that he recognised- barely. The redhead winced, groaning at the wound which sent harsh bolts of lightning through his nerves whenever it was disturbed.
Baby steps, Felix. Baby steps.
He managed to pull himself onto his knees, the dark material of his trousers spotted with blood.Felix already knew what he would see when he lifted his gaze. So, he didn't- it would only make him feel all dizzy again.
He could make out three pairs of legs- Andrea was kneeling over something, her voice wavered and scared. Though, compared to the wails of everyone else, she seemed to be the most composed there. Felix let out a sigh of momentary relief upon spotting the Snatcher's lifeless body beside them, his heart fizzing with a grim satisfaction.
Still, he was afraid to look up. Blood had begun to pool around his hand. Felix took a deep breath, composing himself and shifting a little so that his weight wasn't all on his arms. He lifted his gaze.
Before him, Andrea was kneeling over a body- well, no. A living person. It was still moving. Steadying his breathing, he tried to make sense of the situation before he started to panic.
The person on the floor must've been Lewis. Maxine stood beside both him and Andrea, who had his arm cradled in her lap, with her hoodie wrapped tightly around it. Daniel was- well, probably somewhere behind him, along with his other brother.
Almost toppling over, Felix carefully pushed himself to his unsteady feet, grimacing at the pain his most definitely broken rib was causing him. He grabbed something to secure himself. The room around him looked like, and in a way was, the result of a massacre. Blood splattered across the curtains like a low budget horror movie, the head of the beast still oozing, separated from its decapitated body.
Lewis screamed out again, writhing in pain under Andrea's arms which were pinning down his own, the green cloth wrapped tightly around it. Felix blinked, scanning Lewis' body. He was covered, drenched in blood. Though, Felix failed to see a wound. His heart plummeted into his stomach as the realisation hit him, his breathing laboured once again.
The severed arm was lying just a few inches behind him, the veins purple and flesh a deathly white. Ignoring the dizziness and stabbing pains in his ribcage, Felix scrambled across the room- one hand on his chest, the other grabbing whatever furniture he could stabilise himself with. Maxine caught his gaze with hers, which shifted down to his broken rib cage before meeting his watery eyes.
Hers seemed wide and alert, panicked, focused.
Felix felt his throat tighten at the sight before him, Lewis' face contorted in agony, twitching and writhing as he struggled to stay conscious from the amount of blood he was losing and the sheer pain of it all. Andrea pulled the hoodie tighter around his arm, causing a generous amount of blood to spurt onto her jeans. Felix gagged.
"Make sure he doesn't fall unconscious." Andrea murmured, twisting the sleeves up into a knot. "Apply as much pressure as you can above the wound. Stop the blood flow."
She sucked in a frustrated breath through her clenched jaw.
"Felix. Do you know where to find any kinds of antibiotics? Or painkillers?"
The redhead huffed, trying his best to recall if he'd seen any medicine cabinets around the house.
"I'm... not sure." He answered, wincing as he straightened out his back. "I can go look for some."
He paused.
"Can I do anything else? Will he be okay?"
A few streams of blood had began to trickle from Lewis' dried lips, his head propped up against Andrea to prevent him from swallowing his tongue or choking.
The blonde stared down at him with worried eyes. Lewis' twitching began to cease.
"I hope so."The bathroom cabinets were pretty much bare, holding only a few measly packets of circular plasters. Throwing open one cupboard after the next, all he could find were packets of vitamin gummies, or allergy relief, or eyedrops. Even bandages would be convenient. Felix grew short of breath, his injury affecting his strength to the point where he had to rest after every few steps.
He tried the kitchen.
Several more packets of allergy relief, sleeping tablets, antiseptic cream?
Would that be useful at all?
Felix tucked a tube of it under his arm nonetheless.
Aspirin?
I guess that could work too. Maybe. A little bit.He raced back into the living room, trying his best to ignore the pain stabbing through his chest with every step. Someone's life was on the line. His ribcage just hurt a little.
The furniture scattered across the floor made it somewhat hard to move around quickly, let alone the explosion of debris the Snatcher had caused when it literally burst through the ceiling.
Baby steps. Very, very quick baby steps.
The room was silent. Andrea's somewhat heavy breathing was barely audible considering the frantic rise and fall of her chest, the blueness of her lips and her despaired expression. Maybe Felix just couldn't process it. He couldn't process his own footsteps, the pain of his broken rib.
Lewis stared back at him with dull, glazed eyes. In a pool of his own blood which had seeped through the fabric of Andrea's hoodie, Lewis' open-mouthed frown gaped at him, still silently screaming in agony. A fresh stream of blood tricked down his chin, weaving between the other deep red lines decorating his lower lip.
He wasn't twitching anymore.
In fact, nothing was moving at all.
