Colossus P.O.V

Gravity Falls, 21st Century

Mystery Shack

Stepping outside, I was greeted by a sea of green. Trees stretched as far as the eye could see, wrapping the town in a lush, vibrant embrace. The breeze was soft and refreshing, carrying the scent of pine and earth. It really was summer here, even though I'd left Zoran City in the middle of fall.

The air felt... lighter. Cleaner. I could breathe more easily than I had in years. History books said humans had perished because their lungs couldn't handle the atmospheric shift. Our kind survived—our lungs were stronger, tougher. But standing here, I felt like I was the one who'd been holding my breath until now.

It's a real shame that all of this is going to be destroyed to make way for our species.

Grenda was laughing as she clunked around in a pair of giant robot legs, and Mabel bounced in a shimmering plasmatic bubble. They were having the time of their lives. Watching them made me grin—it was impossible not to.

Among the pile of stolen lab gadgets, I spotted a hoverboard. It looked... awful. Scratched, dented, and more than a little sad. But it was still functional.

Switching it on, I tossed it onto the ground, watching it hum to life and hover just above the dirt. I could fly with my wings anytime, but this? This was something else.

The moment I stepped on, I regretted it. The hoverboard shot forward, and I tumbled backward, landing flat on my back.

Mabel's laughter rang out nearby. "You're supposed to ride it, not wrestle it!"

I ignored her, brushing dirt from my arms. No way was I letting a lousy piece of tech get the better of me. I stood, ran forward, and jumped back onto the board. This time, I stayed upright—for about five seconds. Then it veered wildly, and I crashed into a low-hanging branch.

Leaves tangled in my hair as I grabbed onto the branch to stop myself from falling again. Below, Akumu's voice slithered into my mind.

"Look at you," she purred. "The mighty Colossus, acting like a clumsy little kid. You can't help yourself, can you?"

"Shut it," I muttered, too focused on the hoverboard to argue properly.

But she was right. As chaotic as it was, I didn't care. It was fun—real, reckless fun. I hadn't felt this alive in years.

I shoved Akumu's smug laugh out of my mind and adjusted my stance. The hoverboard wobbled under my weight, but I held steady this time. Then, with a burst of confidence, I zipped forward, weaving through the trees like a pro.

I didn't need to explain myself to anyone, not even Akumu. For once, I wasn't a hero, a leader, or someone weighed down by responsibility. I was just me—a girl flying through the woods with the wind in her hair and no plans to stop anytime soon.

No P.O.V

The girls were completely absorbed in the gadgets they'd hauled up from the Mystery Shack's basement. Grenda stomped around in a pair of oversized robot legs, declaring her dominance.

"Behold my mighty power! Tremble before me!" she boomed, hands on her hips.

Mabel was bouncing around inside a shimmering plasmatic bubble, spinning mid-air with reckless glee. "I'm a superhero in a bouncy hamster ball!" she cheered, her laughter infectious.

Out of nowhere, a loud WHRRRR filled the clearing. Colossus came flying in on a hoverboard, wobbling and completely out of control.

"Move!" she shouted, but it was too late.
