Angel's POV

The sound of flickering flames could be heard nearby. Being the curious fox I was, I decided to take a look at what was going on, although, the turnout was speechless. A town had been set on fire. There were running villagers, crying children, barking dogs, dead bodies and burning homes. I didn't know what to do. The whole place was a bizarre of warm colours. Every corner I turned, every roof I jumped on, complete disaster.

The blazing fire ran quickly throughout the town, as though it was racing against the clock. But, I couldn't just sit and wait. I had to make sure everyone had been evacuated. I continued to search through the area, in discovery for any more living beings around. That's when I spotted a girl. Around the age of fifteen.

She was wandering around the village and, by the look of things, she was casting some sort of magic. How was that possible?! I didn't know what was going on but I had to find out. I jumped down from the tree I was standing on and ran towards her.

"Hey! What are you doing here? You should leave! This isn't the time to find someone or something! Just get out of here! Quickly!" I tried to persuade her, but it didn't seem as though she was listening to me. I decided to ask again, "Hello?! You need to leave!" Just then, she slowly turned her head to look at me.

Her eyes, vermillion and her hair, that I wasn't able to see until now, was radiant white. The flames that grew within the palms of her hands flashed. I didn't know how to reply. Was she the cause of this mess? "Stop what you're doing! You'll destroy everything if you continue!"I tried to stop her, but she attacked me with the flame above her hand.

Luckily, I dodged it, but only barely. What should I do now? Should I just go and attack? I sat on the hard dirt, looking at her as she looked back at me, "What.. Are you?" I accidentally asked before covering my mouth. I didn't know how she was going to reply, but, I was more worried about how this would end. I closed my eyes, hoping for the best until...

"W-What...?" The girl answered. I re-opened my eyes and looked at her once more. Her eyes weren't as bright as they were before. There wasn't even a hint of red anymore. They were brown. Her hair also changed colour, from white to black.

She looked at herself, confused, then looked around the town, "Are you alright?" I asked her as she turned to face me. I could see the confusion in her eyes. Why was she confused? Was she the one who started this? She began to cough as though she was suffocating from the smoke, "Oh no!"

I immediately stood up and grabbed her hand, leading her out of the polluted air. Once she was breathing normally again, I settled her down onto a stool and looked at her.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"I-I don't know..." was her reply, "I don't know what happened..!" She grabbed the sides of her hair and firmly gripped onto it panicking, "Please! I didn't do anything! I can't tell you what happened!" I looked at her astonished,

"Whoa! Calm dow-"

"I just don't get it myself! Please, don't kill me! Don't hate me! I-I..." She paused, and her eyes slowly closed, "Hey! Stay with me here!" I told her, shaking her gently. She was quiet. I searched for a heart pulse and luckily, it was still beating, "I need to take you somewhere safe for now".

I thought to myself, "Or else, more trouble may occur..." I sighed before carrying her and walking away.

The sound of quivering flames, water extinguishing the flares and screams of horror could still be heard in the background.

Place: An abandoned log cabin somewhere within the woods.

Candice's POV.

My body was cold, goosebumps ran down my spine. I slowly awoke from my sleep and looked around. Where was I? What happened? I was baffled. I gazed around the room until my eyes stopped and stared at a figure. It was a female. She seemed fairly tall and powerful compared to me. I was more frightened of the fact that she wasn't human. No..

She was a fox. A FOX! A walking on two feet fox! Wide eyed, I backed away from the animal, unable to say anything. She looked at me, startled. Did I scare her? Well, it wasn't my fault. She was the scary one. I thought.

I tried to calm myself down and wait for her to reply, "A-Are you alright?" The fox asked me. I was stunned, "Y-You're a.. Fox?" I asked her, quite confused. "Sure am," she replied. "A-And... You're.. Talking?!" I didn't know how to put it in any other way. I was frightened.

"Yep! Definitely talking right now," she smiled at me, which only scared me even more. "W-What are y-you?!" I shot at her, wanting an answer. "Whoa! Calm down! No need to throw a tantrum!" She walked up to me and in my reply, I backed away, "It's alright. I won't hurt you," she told me, "I saved you! And I only mean to ask you the same question!

But, let me introduce myself to you first, shall I?" She then emitted another smile. Did she have to keep smiling?

"I'm Angel! And yes, I'm a talking fox! It's nice to meet you!" She told me. What a short intro... I kept the thought behind my mind. "And.. Where am I?" I asked her.

Angel lifted her left eyebrow before letting off a small laugh, "Shouldn't you answer my question as well?" I nodded quietly. "I-I'm Candice..." I answered her, "I don't know what I'm doing here nor what happened a while ago... I don't exactly remember a lot right now..."

She looked at me, as though she was worried and sat opposite to me, "Do you know what happened? About the blaze?" She questioned me. "N-Not really..." I replied, beginning to feel a little afraid. "Well, the trouble will only arise if you don't know what you can do..."

She took my hand and held onto it, as though it was a mother-to-daughter lecture. I only nodded. "Well," she began, "I don't know if it's you who did it, but the whole village I found you from is completely destroyed," I gasped, trying to slowly take in what she had told me.

What town is she talking about?! The town where my orphanage is?! How can she think I did it?! And if I did do it, how?! "I'm only an ordinary girl!" I told her before beginning to cry, aghast to what was being accused of me. Angel seemed shocked. Why was she even shocked? There wasn't any point. Now she hated me too. She hated my guts. She'll probably try to murder me first thing.

"You think you're... a normal girl?" She asked me. All I could do was nod. "Then, how did you cast that magic?" She tilted her head, abashed. I looked at her, "I... c-casted... ma-"

"OPEN UP." The voices from the other side of the door were of males.
