Derek Hale was irritated – that much was obvious. He had been training his betas for hours and there was no sign of improvement. Some days Derek wished he had his daughter's abilities, perhaps it would be easier to train a beta with the abilities that Aurora Argent had.

Derek let out a huff before questioning,
"Does anyone want to try something other than being completely predictable"

Boyd and Isaac both cringed slightly as Erica leapt up and entangled in a make out session with Derek who shoved her back and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand,
"That's the last time you do that"

"Why? Cause I'm a beta?" Erica shot back bitterly.

"No" Derek answered, because I have a daughter who's the same age as you,
"Because I have someone else in mind for you"

There was a moment of hesitation before Derek looked over at Isaac and added,
"Both of you"

"Okay; one, who?" Isaac began as he groaned slightly and sat up,
"Two, are we done? Cause I got about a hundred bones that need a few hours to heal"

Derek crouched down and grabbed Isaac's arm in a motion that seems like he was going to help the beta to his feet but instead broke his arm,
"A hundred and one"

Isaac let out a pained noise before he crawled back towards Boyd to lean against the stairs.

"You think I'm teaching you to fight, huh?" Derek snapped,
"Look at me! I'm teaching you how to survive!"

"If they wanted up dead, why aren't they coming for us now? What are they waiting for?" Isaac questioned in curiosity.

"I don't know" Derek responded,
"But they're planning something, and you, especially, know that's not our only problem. Whatever that thing was that killed Isaac's father, I think it killed someone else last night. And until I ding out what it is, you all need to learn everything I know. As fast as I can teach you"

Derek then walked away from the trio of betas leaving them in silence, although Isaac tilted his head slightly and called out after the alpha,
"No seriously, Derek, who did you have in mind for me?"

Derek chose not to respond causing Isaac to huff in frustration,
"I hate people"

Allison and Rory were sitting out in the courtyard studying, the younger of the two had both her calculus and chemistry textbooks open, switching between the two when one was annoying her more than the other, when Stiles came up to them, acting as a messenger bird between Allison and Scott.

"I think you mean-"

Stiles cut Allison off sharply,
"No, I mean bestiary, and the two of you, I don't want to know what's going on in your heads"

"Okay" Allison let out while Rory rolled her eyes at her cousin,
"Can you describe this thing?"

"It's probably like a book" Rory shrugged slightly causing Stiles to gesture to the brunette for confirmation,
"or journal. It'll be old and worn out"

"Like bound in leather" Allison questioned in curiosity.

"Probably"

"All right" Stiles nodded before dashing off.

Hands slammed down onto the table that the pair of cousins were studying at making Rory jump, the younger brunette looked up at him in surprise,
"Oh my god"
