A week and several blossoming bruises later, Ebony stood in the palace gardens with his Majesty's dashing son, making Ebony find it hard to concentrate on her training.

Ebony stood across from Xavier, who was holding a Wonderwall mirror, as Ebony learned, in his delicate fingers. She took a deep breath as he looked at her.

"Okay Miss BlackFoot, let's see how much you've learned in the past week. Transport us to the main church in the city."

Ebony took the mirror from Xavier's hand and inhaled a sharp breath, before he placed a calming hand on her arm. Coming up behind her, Xavier gently placed his hands on her shoulders, and leaned down to her ear.

"You're too tense, relax."

Ebony could feel his warm breath in her ear as she was covered in the scent of roasted vanilla and cinnamon. She inhaled and closed her eyes while she listened to his next words.

"Now, look into the mirror, and envision where you want us to go."

Slowly opening her eyes, Ebony gazed into the mirror as it morphed into an image of the town. People bustling to and fro, a crowd gathering around a street performer, wagons racing on the cobblestones towards their destinations, trying to stay on schedule for their deliveries and the main church looming up behind them (as if judging them?).

"Close your eyes, inhale," Xavier's says softly.

Ebony's eyes gently closed as the image of the town fills her mind. Several moments tick by before a sharp pain in her chest jolted her out of her trance, only to find herself sitting on the cobblestones, Xavier having landed a few feet away from her. Eyes wide open, Ebony takes the scene around her in. Her eyes landed on Xavier before she stood up in unison with him.

A flash of a smile appeared on Xavier's face before it disappeared, causing Ebony to wonder if she'd imagined it, or if it had been real at all. His calm expression returned as he begrudgingly complimented her.

"Nice work, Miss BlackFoot."

As she took his outstretched hand, Ebony looked around her.

" Um where is the church?"

Gently placing his hand on her head, Xavier turned her in the direction og the church, looming up behind them. Ebony's violet eyes widened.

"Right," she said with a gentle sigh.

Xavier locked eyes with Ebony before placing his hand over her mirror and closing it.

"Let's walk back."

Ebony nodded. "Alright."

.......

When they arrived at the castle, they were greeted with a warm smile from one of the palace maids. She curtsied and turned to Xavier.

"Your highness, your father is hosting a dinner tonight with several of his noble friends, you and Miss Blackfoot are to attend."

Xavier nodded. "I understand."

Ebony's expression morphed into surprise when the maid curtsied to her.

"Miss Blackfoot, his Majesty has sent some clothing up to your room for the gathering."

Xavier followed the maid into the kitchens, leaving Ebony with nothing else to do but go up to her own room.

Her eyes widened as they fell upon the sight waiting for her. Three maids with smiles bright enough to make freshwater pearls screech in jealousy. Ebony gave a nervous laugh before her gaze landed on what they're delicate fingers were holding. A long blue dress, with ruffled sleeves, and ribbons to lace the back. The skirt flared at the waste and was just long enough to reach one's ankles. Her jaw hit the floor.
