This chapter contains a little bit of violence. You have been warned.

When Daniel opened the door, he saw it was Derrick who had interrupted them. He wanted to shut the door in his face, but Derrick put his foot in the space between the door and the wall to stop it from closing.

"I'm sorry your Majesty, the news about you finding a fair maiden has spread like wildfire, just thought I would come and see if it was Avery."

"Do you not read the sign on the door?" Daniel deadpanned, crossing his arms to look intimidating.

" I apologise once again, your Majesty, it most certainly won't happen again."

"You have made countless promises like those I'm not sure I trust you anymore," Daniel said. However, the mild amusement flashed in his eyes.

Avery stood up to see who was at the door. When she saw it was Derrick, she waved, saying, "Hi Derrick. It has been a while."

"Avery!" Derrick happily screamed, which led him to remove his foot from where it was.

"I'm sorry, visiting times are over. Goodbye." This time Daniel shut the door in his face, not forgetting to lock it with a key.

"Why did you have to be so mean to him?" Avery said, crossing her arms in an attempt to be stern.

"He was a pain besides; I wanted to spend some more time with you," Daniel said, kissing the top of her forehead, "so my dear Summers, where were we?"

"YOU BURNT DOWN HER HOUSE." The man shouted as he grabbed the chair and threw it across the room.

"I'm sorry sir-." Before he could finish his sentence, the man was shot to the head.

"Did he deliver the letter?" The man turned to the other man that had escorted the one that had just been shot dead.

"Yes, we did."

"To her, personally?" The man said, raising his eyebrows.

"No, but we did put it in a place where she would easily see it."

"Did you stay to watch her read it?"

"No, we had to leave before she spotted us."

"If she spotted you, she wouldn't have done anything. Either way, your fate has been decided."

He shot him too. "Back to square one." He said as he blew the smoke that was coming out of his pistol.

"Sir, if I may interject," The man who had found out about Avery's whereabouts said.

"The people who I followed from the bar happen to be friends of Avery. However, I only managed to recognise one of them, it so happened to be one of the strongest knights in the Coldante Dynasty. Derrick Matthews."

"Well this information could be of some use to me, however practically if it appears to be of no use, you'll end up like both of them."

The man gulped.

"Clear the bodies, Dimitri, tomorrow we set off to the Coldante household," The man said as he left the basement of his home.

"Close your eyes. I need to show you something." Daniel said as he led Avery into the forest.

Daniel had woken up early in the morning to buy Avery a new set of arrows and a new bow since she lost her last ones in the fire. He knew she was pretending to be alright about it, but inside she was truly devastated, so he went to the town centre, brought her a new set and a new dagger to compliment the collection.

He didn't know whether she would be pleased or annoyed by it, but he wanted to do something for her, so he thought why not.

He lay them in the forest, covered them, making sure no one saw them and raced to the castle to get Avery.

Avery was still sleeping in the extra room that was next to Daniel's room. Earlier on after they had finished their make-out session, Daniel had begged her to stay, but she had consistently refused to stay, claiming they were taking it too fast. Daniel was a bit grumpy about it, but he obliged and gave in to her wishes.

He went into her room, tried to wake up Avery, but she punched him, every time he attempted to wake her up. Eventually, after all the bruises and scars on his arm, she woke up, apologised to him countless times and played along with his plans.

Now they were in the forest, Daniel covering her eyes as he led her to the surprise he had for her.

"Okay now open them."

When she opened her eyes and saw the lovely set of arrows and the bow, she couldn't help the smile that spread across her face.

"Are these for me?" She asked, her eyes shining with happiness.

"Yes, yes, they are. I know you weren't too happy about losing your bow and arrows so I thought I would get you a new set. It also comes with a dagger... I just wanted to make you smile both outside and inside," Daniel explained, rubbing his neck nervously.

"Thank you, Daniel. This means a lot to me."

"Did I accomplish my mission of making my girl happy?" He huskily asked as he wrapped a hand round her waist.

"I don't know, you did wake her up early without breakfast...," she said, placing a finger on her chin, with a thoughtful expression.

"Don't worry my love, I'll make you a feast, then we can have it in my room, spend the whole day to ourselves. How does that sound?"

"That sounds delightful!" She replied.

Shall we?" He said as he grabbed Avery's new equipment.

"We shall." Together they walked back to the castle, talking and enjoying each other's presence.
