Later on, Jug and I were walking out of school alongside V, Archie and Kevin, as they were all going to Pop's and we were going to our doctors appointment.
"So what do you guys want? A boy or girl?" V asked.
"I'm not sure. I think I'd want a girl," I said, thinking of a baby version of Jughead and I brought a smile to my face and a shine to my eyes.
"Well... here's what I've been thinking," V started, "you should have a gender reveal party," she said to which Jug and I groaned which she noticed but kept on anyway. "I mean, think about it. Your baby shower is in a couple weeks, why not make it a gender reveal as well? I can do it." I have to admit, things like this have always intrigued me, and they seem like so much fun. It would be a great experience, and Veronica is organising our baby shower anyway, so she can just add in a gender reveal bit kinda, which clearly she's more than happy to do.
"I mean... I don't know about-," Jug started, before I interrupted him.
"Okay." Out of the corner of my eye I could see Jug turn to look at me as if to say 'really', but that situation that needs convincing can be dealt with later, so for now I just say, "it'll be fun, and V doesn't mind!"
"Okay fabulous!" Veronica exclaims in her trademark, over the top dramatic way, " So you'll go to your appointment and get the gender on a piece of paper in an envelope, then when you come meet us at Pop's after, give it to me then and I can start making arrangements." I smile at Jug and we all say bye and split off for an hour while we go to our appointment.
Half an hour later, Jug and I were waiting for our doctors appointment. I turned to look at Jug to see him tapping his foot. "Nervous?" I asked jokingly.
"Oh, umm... sorry," he said, letting a laugh escape his lips slightly. But then just after this, we noticed a doctor come into the room, reading through information on a clipboard.
"Betty Cooper?" the doctor said, looking up from the clipboard. Me and Jug stood up, hand in hand and walked over to the doctor, following them through into the room. I sat on the bed and Jug sat next to me on the chair, still having a tight grip on my hand. "So how are we feeling today?" the doctor asked once we were all settled.
"Good," I said in a one word reply, wanting to get this appointment over with. I don't like them, but I like knowing that the baby is okay.
"Okay, well, let's see how we're doing shall we?" the doctor said as me and Jug started nodding furiously. I lifted my top up over my belly and the doctor put the gel on it and started moving the monitor around so we could get a clear picture of the baby. Same as always, Jug and I just sat there, hands gripped together, staring at the monitor above me, mesmerized by what was happening inside of my stomach. The doctor looked at the baby, then looked at Jug and I staring speechless, and smiled. "Would you two like to know the sex of the baby?" she asked.
"Oh, um..." I stammered as I went to ask for the sex of the baby in an envelope, "could you write the sex on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope please?"
"Of course," the doctor replied, turning around to sort out the information, "let me guess... gender reveal party?"
"Yeah," I said simply.
"My sister is like our best friend and she was throwing us a baby shower already, and then literally like two hours ago, had the lightning bolt of an idea for a gender reveal," Jug said, explaining the situation to the nurse.
"Ah, well, I've had one before in my time," the doctor sad as my and Jug looked at her surprised and I pulled my top down over my bump again. "I'm sure you'll have a brilliant time. They really are a lot of fun," she said as she handed me the envelope of information for Veronica.
